We stopped here cuz for $10, we figured we’d boondock and use a generator. Unfortunately, campers immediately complained about the generator cuz it was a No generator zone. Mike Weston helped us get a site that allowed the generator in another part of the camp for us. While the site isn’t as shady, we basically had the area mostly to ourselves and ended up liking the site way more. If you come here, make sure you know the area to camp. If you have a generator that’s noisey-request the overflow sites. If you are rent camping, you’ll dig the panther pond site though-it was really pretty too.
Just make sure you get the right area. Hope this review helps.

I stayed one nite and had the place all to myself. Class B camper vans will fit A-OK. I stayed one nite and had the place all to myself. Class B camper vans will fit A-OK. It's a primitive campground and arrived late in the day, and never looked for pit toilets or other services, so I can't comment on that. It's located near protected Florida panther habitat and just north of Florida's Big Cypress Preserve. The road in is 2-3 miles long and hard pack limestone rock and gravel and I don't think even rain would make it difficult to navigate. I'm guessing the place probably fills up during hunting season. I didn't have any problems with mosquitoes or bugs, but Florida springtime generally is dry when I was there, so that eliminated that issue. Lack of power receptacles might be a problem during the summer months as you would need A/C all night and the site says generators are only good until 10pm. Another reviewer said sites 5,7,9 were best, but I thought there were some other good ones as well.

Reserved site 11 over a recent holiday weekend. drove out a few weeks prior to hike in the area and wanted to scope the campground. easily half the sites were occupied, including ours, by a friendly hippie dude in a late model compact camper. I could tell he had plans to stay the weekend, but our arrival nixed that, so he went somewhere else. there were still a few sites left. There was a group of guys that during the day were clearly there to party but by 10pm (quiet hours) they were silent. There was a couple generators running in the morning but only for a short while. Bugs not too bad but its not that wet out there yet. Some nice hiking trails in the area.
NO RUNNING WATER AND NO HOOKUPS. NOT A BIG RIG CAMPGROUND.
There is a dumpster and a coupe Port-a-Jons that left a lot to be desired. we brought our own camp toilet.
cell service was actually pretty good at the campground but drive down the loop road and it drops off.
BRING ALL SUPPLIES WITH YOU.
There really isn't a close place to get supplies.
Lots of birds & other wildlife, bring your binoculars.
Certain times of year hunting is permitted in the area. Not a hunter so I don't know when that is.

Made an on-site visit to Panther Pond Campground. Three portable potties and a trash bin were available near the pond adjacent to the campground. The width of the campground loop road and most sites are narrow. There is no room to maneuver a big rig within the campground loop and there are numerous overhead obstructions for high clearance rigs due to tree overhang. With that said, the sites although small, are scenic and private and small trailers/campers under 25 feet will likely fit. AT&T service was 2 bars LTE with 23.6 Mbps download speed and 2.81 upload speed. Verizon was 1 bar LTE with 5.05 Mbps download speed and 1.32 Mbps upload speed. The hard packed access road from the highway to Panther Pond will accommodate big rigs, but this campground is a no go for those with larger rigs.

Arrived three days before Christmas, 70 and sunny with the whole place to myself. Couple vehicles went by the road, one was a fire ranger. Bugs weren’t bad, gator in the pond, Owl’s calling at dusk & dawn. If your looking for quiet and remote this is the place.
