Outlet Park: Corps of Engineer CG. Arrived late Sunday afternoon. This campground had a host at the entrance booth. The CG had been full over the weekend and would be the following weekend. We planned to spend two nights. Host recommended a site or anything nearby. We choose a site and got set-up. Went to entrance booth to pay and then learned that a reservation was coming the second night of our stay, we would have to move the following day. Then the host ran an updated reservation listing and found that the site and others nearby had reservations coming in. Overall a messy check-in. Ended up moving to another site which was also satisfactory. The campground is nice with big trees and lots of grass. Many of the sites are pretty level and have some space around them. If planning a weekend stay better make a reservation.

We’ve stayed here a few time now and really enjoy it. Small creek beside the campground with walking trails. Nice playground for kids (ages 5-11 had a lot of fun). It’s pretty centrally located so they can play while we relax at the camp site.

We stayed at this campground twice for two nights in April '21. (We live just over an hour away.) The campground is about 25 minutes west of I-35 from Ottawa, KS. The regular rate is $20 per night, but we were able to get the $10 Golden Age Passport rate. Each of the sites in this campground includes water and electricity. In early and mid-April this park was very quiet; we were nearly the only campers there. It was fully open, though. I believe the season at this campground runs from April 1 - October 31 -- somewhat longer than some of the other COE campgrounds at Pomona. There's a nice playground if you have little kids. Plenty of fishing is available, and of course, boating on Pomona Lake. There is no view of the lake from this campground since it's below the dam. Each of the sites has a fire ring, a metal post to hang a lantern, and a picnic table. Our campsite unfortunately had toilet paper on the ground at a couple of spots near it. Ugh. We left the campsite cleaner than we first found it. There are a few pull-through sites. Sites appeared to be mostly level (ours was -- don't remember which site it was). There are showers and toilets available, but we didn't use either, so can't speak to their quality. There was no cell service available for either T-Mobile or Sprint down in the campground area. As soon as drove up out of the campground, we had both phone and data available. As this was prior to the busy season, we really enjoyed our two brief stays in the quiet campground. We had an unusual-for-Kansas April snowstorm and enjoyed the beautiful campsite in the snow. We were able to use the free-to-campers dump facility before leaving.

We just needed a place to stay for one night while traveling through Kansas. This Army COE Campground fit the bill. We were there midweek at the end of September and there were only two other sites occupied. Sites are shady. There are flush toilets and showers at the upper bathrooms and vault toilets in the lower loop. The campground sits just below the Pomona Dam which is why it’s called “Outlet”. The creek behind the campsites is the outlet for the dam. We heard an owl at night and some sort of very loud squawking bird (great blue heron?), but we never saw them. No cell service in lower loop for Verizon.
