Dump station did not have drinking water. Our site was primitive so no water. We could hear the highway from our site but not too bad. Some sites have water and electricity.
Our site had a bit of slope but not horrible. Had to drop the tongue down a bit.

Beautiful and lush in September. The camp host, Will, is about as perfect a host as you could hope for. There are lots of play things for the kids, newer and nicer than some other State Parks we’ve been to.

I love site C30. There is a lot of shade, a view of the resevoir, and a worn path to the shoreline from this site where you can beach a kayak or sit in a camp chair and watch the sun come up. The other sites have nice views or equally shaded sites, but they do not have access to the water. I have a travel trailer with a bathroom so don't use the facilities much, but the couple times I did use the toilet, the building was clean. The park police are nice and the other staff was, too.

Great back in lake front views. Sites mostly level and shady. Just could get 26 foot camper and 3/4 ton pickup in site, however they do have "visitor parking" that could be used if needed. 2 boat ramps that we found in the park. Some sites have water and electric. Dump station free for camping guest. Friendly staff. Nice little history museum. Food Lion, Dollar General, and a few places to eat within 1 mile. ATT data service very fast. Verizon data slow but useable. Some launched kayaks from campsites.

Many of the sites had the picnic table and fire ring in the opposite side or down a few steps which I didn’t mind, but for some might not be ideal.
Internet reception on Sprint and Verizon was about 2 bars on average. We were able to watch a movie on Netflix just fine.
The park itself has ample hiking and boating opportunities. There is also an equestrian campground and the cabins looked nice from the outside.
Clarksville is across the lake (5-10mins) and is a cute tiny town with gas/groceries/etc.

We love the Virginia State Parks. The ones we've visited are always well maintained, quite and in great locations and this one is no different. It's on Buggs Island Lake which is a 50k acre lake. Our site was right near the water. They had great sites, level with a nice pad with picinic table and fire ring. Most sites are well shaded. The bath houses were clean and well maintained. Since this state park is on the lake, it had a Marina where you could rent pontoon boats (from a 3rd party). An 18ft pontoon boat went for $200/day. Fishing was good. Only down side was the park did not have a swimming area on the late. Like most state parks, they have lots of hiking trails. TV and cell reception were great here.
