My only disappointment was that we had minimal water view from the site, although we had a path down the hill to the lake. Our site was booked as waterfront. It's sad that the very best waterview sites I saw had no hookups.

We opted for a standard no electric site since we have solar and are used to boondocking out west. It saves you a bit of money which every four days is another nights stay so we like using this option when parks have it.
However, site 5 is so heavily treed and tucked away solar was useless as was our Starlink.
Thankfully we were able to move to site 14 which made all the difference in the world. Even in October this site got enough hours of sun to fully charge everything and made us feel like we were in the Arizona desert again, although with lots of trees and water :)
Both sites were perfectly level and packed gravel which helped keep things clean. Sites are long enough to comfortably fit your trailer and tow vehicle in. Almost all sites here have paths from them down to the lake which was still fun to paddle board on even in October.
Most sites in the campground would be considered "full shade" so if you are wanting to use solar site 13 which is a double site, site 14, 35, 36 and 37 are your best bets for sun in the fall.
Lots of stuff to do in the area. Food Lion is about 6 miles away with plenty of different grocery options.
The only negative and it happens is that non electric loops and standard electric loops are inner mixed so people paying more for the silence of electric hook ups may have a generator user right across the street from them as was happening near us. You can pick your spot but not your neighbors!

We stayed here for 4 nights in early October, 2023 in site 57. Site 58 was the best of the small loop we were in. Most of the sites in that direct area had small trails down to the water. We were up above the water, not right on it. Some of the dry sites were right down on the water. Our site had water & electric and a nice view of the water between the trees. There are a lot of sites without water view - check the online map & info when reserving. For dry sites, my favorites were 34, 35 & 36.
Lousy cell connection with our t-mobile - booster did better. Showers were hot! A bit of a walk to get too. Late check in - 4 pm, but I think we arrived earlier and were fine. Very quiet and peaceful.

Very peaceful, so glad we booked this place. On the cons side this place is more expensive than the NC parks but I think the space between the sites makes it worth it. We will be back again soon.

This campground is wooded and beautiful. Many sites are on the water. Make sure the site is W/E before booking since several of the waterfront campsites are dry camping. There is a swimming area with picnic tables. My only complaint is that I needed to work and Verizon coverage was too weak for my hotspot.

Otherwise, this would be a 5 star all the way. We had site 21, which had gorgeous views and was on the water with an easy trail down to the beach. There are many waterfront sites. Our site had no hookups, but we are set up for boon-docking so not an issue! Sites are big and level with gravel base, picnic table, and fire ring. Bathrooms/showers were excellent; updated and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were there in late September 2022. Our cost of $10 reflects use of a senior pass.

We had a good 2 days here. Steps down to the lake. Mostly flat site. The feeling a being in nature was strong here. Went fishing in the kayak and had a bald eagle fly right over the boat. Pretty awesome. Easy check in.

We did not have an electrical hookup. We used a generator. Due to health issues it needed to be cool on two guests for breathing purposes. After first night we were notified that we could not use the generator during night hours after 10 PM. The camper became extremely hot without the generator and made this impossible. Prior to registration we were informed that there would be electrical hookup. There was not. We were visited by the "warden" to tell us there were complaints about the generator. We were threatened with being ticketed for using it. We left after the first night being unable to stay cool. Thumbs down on friendliness. Site did not have trash receptical, showers were not very private, bathrooms were limited. Will not be going back

This is a basic campground.
Hookups are only available at a few spots.
Some of the spots are more narrow than others so you would be sitting behind your rig.
Our spot was ok. We backed in a little sideways and could access our whole side of our van for dinner.
Restrooms were clean.
Dump station was well maintained but watch out for the water pressure on the flush water. It’s at level 9000.
Our site was nice and level. Lake was close by (probably could have walked down to it if I had the nerve to go through bushes).
We did have a few massive horse flys come through. Or maybe deer flys. None were aggressive towards us, but we ended up putting the dog inside just in case they were out to bite.
Overall the sites aren’t crazy private, but they are split off from each other. My only complaint was that a trailer across the way had bright blue lights on all night.
