The Slate River Valley offers breathtaking mountain and river views along with many different recreation options along its length. It is frequented in the summer by anglers, mountain bikers, hikers and nature lovers.
Slate Creek dispersed sites are accessed via a narrow gravel road past the O Be Joyful Campground. This road is a single lane at times with limited turn off, against a drop-off. There are on guardrails on this road. Please use caution when driving, especially during peak times.
It is recommend that all vehicles greater than 35-40 ft. do not attempt to drive beyond Musician's Camp (approx 6 miles from Gothic Road) due to lack of turn around space, rough roads, and/or lack of sites with adequate parking for large vehicles.
Musician's camp is divided into three sections. First there is a spur with sites 1-3, which can accommodate tents and small rigs. The first spur road is at a slight angle and a difficult turn, not recommended for large rigs. The second spur has an full sun RV section with sites 4-13 and then a tent only section in the trees with sites 14-17. There are vault toilets in the center of this area.
Site 2 is a walk-in tent site with a spot to park a mid sized vehicle. The site is well shaded.
The area has amazing views, however, the sites are very close together like in an RV park, removing a star.
There is no cellular connection in the Slate River Valley.
