At first was excited to arrive to enjoy what real Florida camping had to offer but upon arriving the owner seemed stand Offish towards us being a younger couple. We were very friendly told him a little bit about us he hinted we goto a state park instead. We told him we drove all this way to enjoy fishing and camping here. Made me feel unwanted. The beauty of Florida was here although no shade so hot during day lots of loud wildlife and bugs at night. Not too much privacy. My favorite part about it was the long drive in with all the beautiful cattle. Showers were ok. He told us no alcohol in the park but it seemed the other older campers enjoy themselves at night regardless. I wouldn’t want to come here again because of its lack of friendliness.

Super friendly staff. It is first come first serve, so we called to see if there were any spots left. They were full, but told us to come on in anyways and they would find us a spot, which they did. Easy to find and a pleasant drive past fields of cattle. The view of the lake and cypress trees was just amazing. In the evening, it was a mostly dark sky and we loved star gazing. The bathrooms and showers were clean. They did have a community fire pit and a nice grill/smoker combo which could be used.
This is the only boat ramp on the lake which is surrounded by a huge conservation area. The bait and tackle shop was very well stocked. They even had some things to eat and drink. There are boat rentals, fishing/nature guides, and air boat rides available.
There are no hookups and no generators were allowed between 9 pm to 6 am (which some people didn't follow). There are no gates, so we were woken by people arriving in the middle of the night and by boaters using the boat ramp before sunrise. Of course, be prepared for mosquitoes. There are many alligators known to be in the area, so no swimming is allowed. You could hear them grunting all day and night (not overwhelming), but we never saw any.
Overall, great stay and would go back. The lake is huge and mostly untouched. Next time we would love to rent a boat (pontoon $75 per hour) for an early morning nature adventure. I heard people coming back from their attempts at fishing exclaiming they wished they would have hired the guide.
Happy Camper would stay here again
