Stayed here mid-Aug 2023.
Pull-through 50 amp. FHU.
THE GOOD:
Site: Spacious site with grass and paved patio with gravel pad.
Gas: 2-3 minutes from the campground. Diesel and regular. Good options in the store as well.
Gas/restaurants/groceries: It is within 5-7 min (Google Maps) of anything you might need.
Wifi: Very good and consistent wifi. No interruption of service and strong enough to stream if needed.
THE BAD:
Nothing of note.
WORTH NOTING (not good or bad)
Park sections: We stayed in the newer section of the park just by happenstance, which is the section closer to the road. As with most parks that have new vs old sections, it is a bit better and more spacious in this newer section. The older section—surrounding the office (after you come through the gate and head to the office) is a bit tighter and the sites are more standard. They look good. Just something to consider if you have preference.

Has a gated entry too. They also offer cabins and tent spots.

I found $51 a night a little expensive for a tent spot that had no water access and was far from the bathrooms and they were closest to the riad.
However they have a nice heated pool, wifi and a pond you can fish in.

The campground and site were both very pleasant. The only problem was a lack of shade, and the sites weren't situated so that the awning provided much shade either. But in general, the site was great.

This place is a bit odd. The front section is some nice back inside but they use a gravel slag that has so many rusty metal pieces in it!
The back sections have a mixture of permanent cabins, permanent RVs, and long-term residents. It’s well kept, but kind of a hodgepodge.
I will say the pool was very clean and great for the kids.

Michigan City Campground
I was nervous to stay at this campground after reading the reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with this campground. The campground is well laid out and the sites are wide. Our site was a short site because we have a small trailer, but it was so wide. It felt like we had a yard of our own. We were not on top of our neighbor.
The hookups were in great shape and easy to access. The setting of the campground is beautiful. There are two ponds, one with a fountain and fish. The grounds are well maintained, green and beautiful. We enjoyed walking around the campground.
The locals tell me it was a former KOA so it is laid out well. The pool is beautiful and big and laundry room was nice and clean with extra-large capacity machines. The store has lots of standard supplies and even soft serve ice cream. We forgot ketchup and soap so it was handy to have it there. There is a fenced in dog park, nice outdoor pavilion with benches. On the Sat night we were there, they had a BBQ food truck there for the campers.
Negatives: Ok, so the smell people have mentioned in their reviews is present. It seems to be in the area near the trash dumpster at the front and the dump station. These 2 things are right next to each other and there was a noticeable smell of rancid trash or perhaps a sewage smell. It only really impacts the few sites around that area. The closest site to them both is a seasonal, so you don’t have to worry about that. It might impact some of the tent sites at the front of the park. If you ask for any site on the right-hand side of the park or in the back, you will be fine. The only recommendation we have for the campground is that they need more dumpsters. Perhaps this is why there is a smell. We noticed the dumpster being emptied on Sat. morning, but by Sunday morning the dumpster was full and overflowing. A second dumpster would probably make a big difference.
Honestly, do not be afraid to stay here. It was clean and very pleasant. One of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in. This area has few campgrounds when the state and national parks are full, so this one is a great option and not too far from the eastern end of Indiana Dunes. It is only a few miles to Pinhook Bog which is a must see if you visit the park.

The dump station is situated right by RV sights and the place smells like sewage. I asked about our camper fitting in the tiny spot we were given. The owner just basically shrugged. Because the sight was so not just unlevel but also slopes up our fifth wheel would not let us unhitch. We were also unable to fully open our slide. The office is run by two teen girls who told us we could not have a refund once we pay because “this has happened before and he wouldn’t give them their money back”. I asked to speak with him and was told he would come talk to us. He never did. The next day we went to the office and was told he would call us. He never did. Just unbelievable how poorly he treats customers.

Our generator broke down and it’s a hot day in June so we need a place that has electricity hookup and we found this RV park near where we were. Other than the nightly price was a bit high, everything are well maintained and organized. It also provide free WiFi and the speed is not too bad.

We have stayed in the premium sites and full hook up. Both type of sites work out great in regards to hook ups and etc. There is alot more room in the premium site. The dog park is awesome. Everyone is great about picking up after their dogs. My only concern is the amount of cigeratte butts on the ground through out the campground including the children's park. They do have weekly and monthly rates. WiFi was good for checking emails and etc.
