We stayed here to visit Indiana Dunes National Park and loved it. Our site was set way back and offered lots of privacy. Easy ride to the dunes and a quiet and clean campground.

The site we picked said it was 52 feet in length and slightly graded. First off, to get in, there are low branches, the road is narrow but doable. Our site was 52 feet but only 1/2 of it was actually level, the rest of it was a grade of 7% and our leveling system would not have been able to reach. The site is narrow (width of the rig). There was a tent area included with our site but they have pillars to prevent you from backing in further. We ended up staying at Michigan City Campground and when I told them where we were supposed to stay, they said they get numerous big rigs stay with them that had reservations at Dunewood.
So beware when you book.

A quick, scenic overnight stop for us. Several miles off the highway but worth it if you are looking for a park setting. Easy pull-through site with walk-in tent sites behind. Located across from a nice bathroom. Wooded. Some highway and train noise but otherwise very quiet.

Nice wooded campground. Mostly concrete pads. Nice walk in tent sites. Nice bathrooms and showers. Close to Lake Michigan. Good hiking on the dunes.

We stayed here for 2 nights this week. Densely wooded forest, well spaced sites. Clean. No hookups. Unfortunately Mather site 10 is on a hill and would be very unlevel for larger rigs. Visitors must drive to most N.P. activities. Some train noise at night but not too bothersome. We would definitely camp here again.

We stayed here 2 nights this week. Stayed in Mather Site 16 which was located on a little hill. This was perfect for our 19 ft class B but would have been very unlevel for a larger rig. Most other sites were flat. Nice clean bathhouse. Quiet, well spaced sites. Densely forested and beautiful. We will be back.

We stayed for one night while exploring the national park and Chicago. This campground seems adequate for tent campers with nicely spaced, wooded sites and who have a vehicle to get around the area. I don’t recommend this campground for those with motorhomes because this side of the park has zero parking or beach accessibility for oversized vehicles or RVs. Its about a mile walk to the beach from the campground. There are a lot of trees overhanging the roads in this area. About 20 minutes drive away there is oversized parking at West Beach which is a very crowded beach.

Dunewood campground is a nice campground down the street from both IDNP and the Indiana dunes State park. Sites are spread out so there is privacy but no hook ups at all. There is freshwater by the dump station and bathhouse/restrooms in the middle of all the sites that were relatively clean. Site 45 is a back in site with a rather steep incline. We had to use leveling blocks to boost the truck up enough to not scrape the stabilizer jacks on the front of our 22 ft TT. There are train tracks near by but aside from the occasional train whistle were not heard. In IDNP, the west beach is better maintained but much more crowded. We went to kemil beach which is more rocky but less people and no fee to access. Over all good experience at this campground.

First off, Indiana Dunes National Park is not on par with other national parks. IN fact, it just became a national park in 2019. So, think of it as a decent state park. The campground itself is nice and filed with trees. The shade will make using solar a challenge in most spots. So overall, great campsite, so-so park experience.
