The bathroom facilities consist of Port-o-lets, which were clean. There is non-potable water. No other amenities. Sites are mostly close together and open. The main attraction here is the C&O Canal Towpath for biking. Trains rumble past nearby regularly.

The camp sites are clean and spacious. Great access to the river for fishing and boating. Overall not bad. The reason for the 3 stars, the train tracks were so close to the camp grounds. It’s very loud and last’s for a decent amount of time, kinda hard to sleep with that going on.

The only reason for saying we would not camp here again is we are too tall. A tunnel guards the entrance to the campground. The height is 10’ 3”. We are 11’6”, 😢. The bike ride on the C&O canal tow path is worth the stop. Ride up to the fort (4 miles) and have a look around.

Site 7
Small campground at the end of a dead end road. As you travel towards the end of McCoys Ferry Road, make sure to stay right, as to pass through the tunnel.
I had the choice of all sites when booking and chose site 7 because it was on the water and was the most "remote". Unfortunately, everything was so overgrown, we had no view of the river whatsoever. We had our morning coffee on site 6 to enjoy the view. We only stayed the one night and got in after dark. Would have been pretty disappointed if we were staying longer and didn't have the view that we should have had.
The road to the campground can be off-putting in the dark, but it was pretty easy to find. The tunnel you pass under is train tracks. The train came through multiple times and you WILL hear it. There were 2 or 3 pairs of porta-potties spread out and a vault toilet at the entrance/picnic area. A firepit, grill and picnic table is at each site. I think $20 is a little steep for comparative campgrounds, but it was a nice place to stay.

They have a few porta potties and one that’s permanent, but no water in April when we visited. The price goes up to $20 in season.
Our RV is 9’6” tall and we cleared the entrance tunnel with about 6 inches to spare. Note that there is a train track very close to the site and a couple of trains went through overnight.
