“Gorgeous Spring Camping ”
Reviewed 4/3/2024
Went there Easter Sunday to stay for few days. The views are gorgeous. The hills were green and wildflowers popping.
Sites are nice. But even though it was spring we saw a rattlesnake in an adjoining campsite so be AWARE!

Sites are large with a small pergola and picnic tables. Our site #C21 did not have a fire ring but we saw several campfires at night.
Only negative is that people don’t clean up after their pets and the areas around our site had a lot of dog poop, as did a pathway down to the lake.

F-6 is pretty tight, but on a hill with an amazing view. Our slider and hook-ups were in the neighbors space F-6 oh well, they seemed to not mind. I’d pick another spot preferably an end spot. Had electric and water hook ups. I like how the ranger patrolled the place too. So my rating is a 3.5 stars! :)

The park was pretty much vacant and quiet.
Partial hook-ups available in certain spots (water/30 amp electric)....the utility posts were installed on the opposite sides of the gravel “pads”!
2 bars of Verizon and could stream Netflix.
Overall nice park.
Would return not so close to a holiday period.
FYI; beware of the roaming turkeys and (sometimes) pesky flies.

Water and 30 amp hookups worked fine and there is a convenient dump station on the way out at Lake McSwain. Between the C and F loops, there were only about half a dozen sites filled so it was very quiet. F-12 and C-21 looked to be prime sites. Loved the constant parade of turkeys. I’m sure our experience may have been very different if we hadn’t gone mid week in March. Not sure I’d want to stay there during peak summer season, but we’ll definitely keep this campground on our off season list.

Easy back up site with water & power (although I think the hookups were on the wrong side). Great view of the lake way below. Two other RVs up the hill from us and two others came in the next day and that was all! Decent cell service, great areas for walking the dog and wild turkeys walking right through our site! We loved it :)

At night it was super loud as there was a large group for a birthday not far and lots of loud music till about midnight.
It’s not a bad place, but I would like a little quicker at night. Great place to bring a hammock and just chill watching the deer. I see this as a great spot in the winter. Summer I think I would roast as it was warm there in later October.
Not bad, a bit loud but good facilities.

The view from site C4 was amazing, parked under a tree for additional shade on my 30’ trailer. The area was extremely dry still beautiful thought. Only issue for this sight was the bbq and table was on the opposite side of the trailer from our doors, but we survived.

Bonus is that the facility there is a 3-lane dump station, which helps reduce waiting time -- one lane was plugged up and overflowing during our visit, which was a little... gross. :) It looked like the RV sites down at Lake McSwain were full hookups if that is preferred.
The view of the lake from our site (F-12) was great. The fact we had no immediate neighbor to the south was even better. Lots of stars here on a clear night. Only downside for our specific site was that it was "backwards" for backing into the site (RV door faces away from picnic table/bbq/etc.) -- minor concern. The facility bathrooms on-site do have showers and whatnot, but in the RV area, that is a little moot. They didn't seem like they were the most well-kept -- a little run down and in need of TLC, but available if the need arises.
Strong VZW/ATT cell signal here means you really aren't disconnected from civilization at all, if that's a concern.
The night we were there, there was a serious wind blowing off the lake, which is something to be aware of.
