We wanted a place to stay 1/2 way between Pioneer and Sequoia— bagby fit the bill. Note 1 lane road for 1/2 mile to get in — don’t try to go in during checkout hours or some may be backing up their rig. We've just spent a couple of quiet, restful nights camped at Bagby. We camped here for a day trip into Yosemite National Park (there are closer places to camp than Bagby, if you're not in the park). We entered Yosemite on Portal Road through Mariposa, California.
Our site was water/electric. There's no dump station.
The campground hosts are friendly and eager to help with information and they make sure you have what you need.
The facilities (restrooms/shower house) are a bit dated, but relatively clean. We didn't use them.
Lake McClure is fed by the Merced River and is non-existent at the camp ground due to the extended California drought. The river is quite beautiful though and the setting is pastural compete with geese, turkeys and cows grazing in what was once the lake bed.
Our only downside was no Verizon cell service even though the coverage map above indicates there is coverage.
We camped on Friday and Saturday and there were never more than 7 different sites occupied.

So maybe I shouldn't post about it then...? This camp is off the beaten path and you won't find it unless you know exactly where it is. I have been coming here over 20 years. When the river is low, it's ideal because you don't have the obnoxious RV and boating people who I've seen ruin perfectly good stays here with there entitlement and drunkenness. Some sites have electric and water hookup but those are $40 and I'm a tent camper. The bathrooms and showers are on the newer side and this campground has one of the best hot showers you will find. Can be quite hot in summer, so after June, it's miserable. Spring, fall and even early winter here are ideal. Hadn't allowed fires in many years.
