We were concerned that we may not be able to find a place to park our 45’ fifth wheel but were pleasantly surprised and also found trails to walk on and trails to drive the UTV! Was dusty because of all the ATVs but everyone was having such fun!

Overall a great night and a great nights sleep. The campgrounds are semi-level easy to access and dispersed along the roads. The campers are mindful of each other and the ATVs and HOV‘s are mindful of the campers. It is busy. I counted roughly 20 ATV/OHV's plus other traffic in 2 hours on a Tuesday morning. I think I will go further back into the campgrounds next time. On the way out I noticed the large parking area at the entrance was completely full of toy haulers and related.
This is a five star dispersed camping ground minus a star or two for the traffic generated noise depending on one’s tolerance. One nice couple in SUV with the ATV in tow parked very close by and asked quite nicely if I minded. My response was that this was all of our space and I had no right to grant or withhold approval. I thanked them for asking, tho, and wished them well in the enjoyment their pass time - as I continued my quest for quiet solitude.

Came up here 6-7-2021. Stayed 2 nights, just a beautiful place. Really easy to get to, just a couple of miles out of Divide Colorado. Road is paved, til you get to the Forrest road. Then turns to dirt. Really easy, big rigs and small cars have no problem. Tons of ATVers, and dirt bikers. So noise is kind of loud. You are camping right off the road. Plenty of spots, both large and small. Loved how the temp dropped 20 to 30 degrees from the plains of Colorado Springs. Perfect weather, a little rain. Beautiful views. Any size rig will find a spot!

We camped about 2 miles past the ATV parking lot. The farther you get from the lot, the quieter it gets. We had shade, plenty of solar sun and a view of Pikes Peak. Friday afternoon there were dozens of sites open in early June. And NO mosquitos!

It's always hard to leave those hidden gems, this was one of them. We will be returning to this area. It is close enough to Colorado Springs yet far enough away from everything else to make this a perfect area when you are wanting to boondock. There are many spots available with full shade as well as full sun in case you need to use your solar panels. There are also many spots with a combination of the two.
Our backyard had an amazing view of Pikes Peak, silent nights, Milky Way views, and howling coyote packs. This was our longest boondocking stay where we didn't have to move to empty tanks and only had to fill the water tank twice. On that note be aware that dump stations and places to get water aren't the easiest to find. We wound up going into Woodland Park to an RV park to get water. That's the only downside to this area for longer term boondocking.
We saw elk, deer, black squirrels, and heard more animals at night than just about anywhere else we have ever camped.
My suggestion is to come in during the week, a Tuesday if possible. The weekends are busy, many people coming in on Thursdays and leaving on Monday's. The OHV crowd can be pretty thick on Saturday and Sunday.

The road was in fair condition. Some pot holes and wash board. All the camping spots we saw were right on the main road. The road is intermittently private and public so don’t be alarmed when the public land end abruptly. It starts again a little further down. Lots of trees for shade. Terrible cell and internet reception if any.
There are a several spots for big rigs. 1 vault toilet house at the beginning of the road. You can get fresh water at Meuller State Park about 15 mins down the road at a picnic site. Bring jugs. Gate cost is $9 per vehicle. Gate hours 8:30am-8:00pm. After 8pm it’s self pay.

We got here on a Friday and it wasn't too bad. We found a spot that was further from the main road, but wished the camping spots were further away from each other. We could handle the ATVers and dirt bikers just fine. Someone started shooting their gun at 10pm, which terrified me, my fiancé, and our dog. Saturday was so busy but we thought we could handle all the noise until some rude dirt bikers parked a foot away from our camp and started doing donuts. Then, when I started to have a coughing fit from all the dust, they heard me and decided to make the dust worse. We ended up leaving a day early because all the noise and dust ruined our (supposed to be) peaceful camping trip. I would recommend not camping here unless you are going there to kick up dust.
