Even though I saw the "may be closed" note on Campendium, I drove to Lyons, KS after checking the city's website which states that the campground is open and free for all. It is NOT. So I called the Police Dept (it was Sunday or I would have called the city office). The officer was nice enough to meet me at the old location of the camp... more
Even though I saw the "may be closed" note on Campendium, I drove to Lyons, KS after checking the city's website which states that the campground is open and free for all. It is NOT. So I called the Police Dept (it was Sunday or I would have called the city office). The officer was nice enough to meet me at the old location of the campground to confirm that it is closed. I asked him if there was another place I could stay over since it was getting dark and he kindly allowed me to park overnight at the city ballpark. Was disappointing but happy I was able to park for the night.

Stayed here end of July 2019. Cute little park and sites include electric. There is potable water available in park. There are bathrooms and showers which are kept clean. Trash receptacle on premises. Lyons is a cute little town.

Found this place on Campendium and it was even better than we expected. Don’t know how or why a City would have a park allowing FREE camping. All sights have FREE electrical hookup. FREE dump sight. Also water to fill your tanks FREE. This park has a playground with swings, seesaws, for kids. JUST A NICE PLACE.

Nice quiet campground with electric hookup, FOR FREE. It is nice that the city of Lyons provides this amenity. The campground is looking a little run down, however. Restroom doors are rusted out at the bottom, grass needs mowing, everything posted on the bulletin board is faded to be unreadable. I would suggest a donation box (I wo... more

Restroom doors are rusted out at the bottom, grass needs mowing, everything posted on the bulletin board is faded to be unreadable. I would suggest a donation box (I would have gladly left $10) with proceeds going toward some needed upkeep.

I was going to pretty much write Kansas off as being a place you only want to pass thru,(If you must).. but this place redeemed that! Not many places offer free electricity! Not to mention showers/ dump/ fresh water fill/aaaaaand,a nice quiet level spot for a 5 DAY MAX STAY!...(are you kidding me!?).. Bonus=there's fuel about a mile u... more

Overall Rating
Electric only, 30 amps. Water and dump station on site. This park is free and you can stay up to 5 days. The sites are on gravel, fairly level. There's a couple of pull through . It has a playground , shower and restroom . Looks like a friendly neighborhood .
