It’s beautiful. Campgrounds are clean. Super quiet at night… lots of stars. Terrific value, great price ($15, or 7.50 for seniors with a pass). Great 7-mile paved road to the campgrounds. Gravel from there… We got here no problem pulling our 18-ft travel trailer. Great boat ramp on the lake. It was interesting to explore the dam. Lots... more

Great dump station. BLM gets 5 stars for this one.
So much nicer than the RV side-to-side “resorts”.

Our GPS took us on a dirt road as we drove north on 93. Better, would have been to go a bit further north, take a left on pavement and proceed into the campground.
We enjoyed a good view of the reservoir. Peacefully watched the sun set. Ours is a 23 foot, class C.
Longer rigs perhaps would struggle to be level.

They do have water, garbage and dump station. Bathrooms are clean also. Road coming in is 7 miles from hwy 93 but all paved.

We're fulltime boondcockers so the paved road to the campground was a welcome sight, since we're so often traveling miles on dirt roads to get to spots. The campground itself is not paved, but is dirt/gravel. When we were there, early June 2021, the second loop was still closed for renovations, so the available sites were in the first loop of 8 sites or down past the second loop, either in some pullouts or down by the water. The sites down by the water started to get crowded toward the weekend, and it looked like it could be challenging to level. The sites in the first loop all had a nice shade structure with cement pad and picnic table. There were some smaller trees dotted around, as well, but none large enough to provide much shade. It happened to be hot when we were there, high-90s.
There were 3 available sites of the 8 in the first loop when we arrived there on a Wednesday, only one of which our 36' moho would fit. There appeared to be a group of researchers from UofO (I'm a Duck, too!) in three of the spots in the first loop. The site we took was number 1 and it got dust and noise from the boat traffic going by to the launch, which started a bit before dawn & was pretty constant til about 10am both days we were there. I saw the complaints about flies from other reviewers, no flies or other annoying critters during our stay. Must be seasonal/later in summer when the flies come out.
Salmon Creek Falls reservoir is beautiful, the water was clear & cold in early June; the campground is just up from the reservoir & it's easy to go down to the water to swim, etc. It's a large reservoir so boating there is probably a blast. It's clearly a very popular fishing spot. We checked out the dam, built in 1910 & the 3rd largest in the world at the time it was built, pretty cool. Twin Falls is about 40 minutes away. Don't miss the knockout Shoshone Falls park, where the Snake River cascades in what's referred to as the "Niagara of the West," well worth the drive & $5 entry fee!
We had fairly good Verizon there, 4 bars with our WeBoost.

Lock box was locked up, reason for the 0 dollars. Rough but adequate sites, but ooh the flies. I've been in stables and s**t houses that don't even come close. They were gone by sundown but I don't think I've ever seen so many. Surprisingly pretty location by the reservoir for as flat as the area is but BRING THE FLYSWATTER.

Stopped here on way south to NV because there wasn't much free camping to be found on the route. Unfortunately it was during the massive western fires and the horizon was smoky. Couldn't really see anything but smoke, scrub brush, and lots of flies. The flies were horrible. Half the campground was under construction - should be nice later. There is a dump station, which is nice. There were only 2 sites left at 4pm and the last one was taken by an RV behind me. The rest of the open CG was full of fishermen and invisible men in camo from head to toe in muddy trucks - assume hunters as Idaho allows everything to be killed in early fall for some reason. The road in was in good shape, but it's far to drive if you were to find it full - so I wouldn't try it after 4 pm in hunting season. I'm full-time and carry multiple wireless routers so see that section for internet info.

I stopped here for a Friday night on my way south into Nevada. It was peaceful and about half-occupied that night, but I was told it usually fills on the weekend with fishermen and boaters from Twin Falls. It was just a basic, aged and rather dilapidated BLM campground, but in a beautiful location by a reservoir, canyon and dam. In addition to the campground, there was a large parking area beyond that would accommodate more RVs, and there were RVs down at the boat dock. Part of the campground was closed, where they appeared to be installing or renovating sites with electric hookups. The road in from US-93 was in good condition.
The nightly rate is $5. I paid $2.50 with my NPS senior pass.
I had 2 bars of Verizon 4G, with 12 Mbps down and 3 up.
