It is recommend that all vehicles greater than 35-40 ft. do not attempt to drive beyond site #9 Approx 6 miles from Hwy 135 as the road becomes very rough, narrows and requires high-clearance 4×4 vehicles

The Cement Creek Area Designated Campsites are first-come, first-served with a 14-day maximum stay and two-vehicle limit per campsite. Camp only in sites that have a post with a campsite number, metal fire ring, and parking spot.

Overall Rating

FR 740 is a gravel base road that is well maintained and treated for dust. It is heavily trafficked by cars, off-road vehicles and bicycles. It is a two lane road until it reaches the formal campground, from there it becomes a single lane. The valley is popular with off-roaders, mountain bikers, hikers and nature lovers.

For all sites past site 6 there is a narrow one lane section of the road as it turns north. This section of the road is in some disrepair and is rocky. One side is a cliff face and the other a gully of rushing water. It is large enough for a 5th wheel to travel the lane without any danger, but it is not a fun spot to meet an oncoming vehicle. I would not attempt this section of road with a rig if there is any snow left on the road due to how close the river is to the roadside.

Site 7 is a rare site in the National Forest due to how close it is to water. The site is grassy and at a significant slope towards the river, which does cause some difficulty in leveling. Due to the slope, this site would be better for a smaller rig to level in. It is full sun and Starlink capable if you are able to hoist it above the rig due to a nearby mountain ridge.

The road it very busy during the day with Jeeps and other offroad vehicles heading to the trails further up.

There is no cellular connection in valley.
