Pine beetles killed most of the original trees so there are fairly open sites, but gorgeous views of the lake and some sites have trails that lead down to the shore. Great place to look at the stars and have a campfire. Windy during the day but, not too many mosquitos because of it.

We stayed in Lodgepole Lake Campground for one night on our way from the Canadian Rockies to our home in Washington State. We met Pete, the camp host at the far end of the campground when we drove in. he explained the basics and charged us $7.50 Canadian based on senior discount (65 & over). He recommended site 12, which is a nice spacious pull through site. He told me the quiet hour is from 9 pm to 7:30 am. The campground is carefully maintained and clean. There are 15 campsites. No. 1 and 7 are double sites. No. 6 is occupied by the camp host. There is a boat launch, hiking trails. There is no electricity, water or dump station. I used the generator for a short time to prepare dinner. The access road is a 3 mile long dirt road but it's in pretty good condition.

We loved this campground. Pete was a friendly campsite host and even brought us some wood for free. Since it's FCFS, you are always taking some risk on getting a site, but this one is well worth it unless you want to arrive on a Friday evening in mid-July. We arrived on a Friday around 2 pm, and all the spots, but another's, and ours were already occupied. There are lots of locals camping here.
The lake is beautiful and serene, with some kayakers and rafts floating.
Our site did not face the lake but felt extremely private and had a terrific view of the mountains.
The three-mile drive up the gravel road was pretty easy. The road was wide in most parts and well-graded.
Zippo cell service for our T-Mobile and AT&T, but Starlink worked like a race car.
We would love to return.

“Beautiful campground close to Kamloops not free in season”

We rolled out because we though it was a free place to camp. I’m sure in the off season it is but if your here June/July-October you’re going to have to pay the toll! Either way it’s a beautiful spot. Not too many mosquitoes but they were there, and the temps were cooler than in town so that was nice too!

It doesn't get any better than that! Free campsites right on a lake with picnic tables and fire rinks with great LTE signal. For free!! A few pull-throughs. It is about 3000 feet higher than Kamloops so plan accordingly. The lake was still frozen on May 9th!
