“Perfect For A One Night Stay”
Reviewed 10/16/2024
We needed a place to get off the road and spend the night with our plans to see Knife Indian Villages National Historic Site in the morning. We pulled in and got situated for the night. Much to our surprise the restrooms were open. There are 2 picnic areas, a gift shop and a short trail. Perfect stop for the night.

North Dakota rest area that allows overnight parking. Lot is shared with Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. The Interpretive center is small but has some interesting artifacts and displays. Interpretive Center admission includes Fort Mandan Living History which is about 2 miles away. I wouldn't recommend bringing large rigs down to the Fort Mandan site. Parking lot was quiet and bathrooms were open 24 hours.

Just called the phone number listed on the linked website for this location (701-462-8535) and spoke to a nice young lady that confirmed the rest area is open and available for an overnight stay (no hookups, etc. obviously). Wanted to make sure since the last review for this location was from 2019.
