The RV sites on the north loop are right next to a hill on Hwy 16, so you have traffic right behind you either accelerating uphill or using Jake brakes going downhill. If I were to stay here again, I'd try to get one of the sites furthest away from the road.
Pros: Immaculately clean campground. The walk-in tent-only section is one of the best I've ever seen for tent campers. Vault toilets throughout. Trash service.
Cons: Surprisingly, the RV sites didn't have very good views of the lake: Too many trees or other obstructions. The double site (Site 10) is a real gem with great views of the lake if you can get it. Sites 1-6 ramp up sharply to (relatively) short, flat pads. Several won't fit equipment much longer than about 25 feet, and you'll potentially be unhooking while your RV is flat and your tow vehicle is pointed downhill.

We were here 16 september 2022.
A beautiful campground! The sites have enough privacy. Also shade. Some are close to the nice lake. Tentshave their own loop.
The host is helpfull.
This campground closed 18 september!! We were lucky to have this place, becous lots of campgrounds in this area are closed half september.
We had made a reservation. The reservation costs are relatively high ($8) compared to the price $20,-
We had no internet and could not use our phone....

Site #2 is close to Rte 16, so good bit of road noise. Everyone but those in site #1 pass in front of us on dusty loop road. Lot of dust. The site is 4’ above the road with fairly steep drive to a spot that was basically level. Put the truck in 4wd low to back up and in. But once in, though the truck is still sitting on the down grade, the trailer is level. We didn’t unhitch, staying only one night, and I’m glad of that. Unhitching can be tricky with the truck on a grade. Partial shade, good uncovered picnic table and decent fire ring. Wood for sale for $6. No view of the lake from this site. No cell service on Verizon.
There was very little traffic on the highway after dark. Campground is at around 8600’ elevation so it cooled off quickly. Very pleasant evening.
Walking around the campground we identified sites 8, 9, and 10 as the best spots for rigs like ours. Site 10 is a double site with nice lake views.

Excellent camp host kept this Forest Service campground clean and tidy! The pit toilets were cleaned to COVID standards daily including making hand sanitizer available. Sally was friendly and helpful. Our campsite had a long view down the lake and after some searching we found a footpath that took us from up the hill down to the lake's edge near the boat ramp. Sites were clean, well spaced. Location of the campground is good to gain access to hiking locations in the Big Horns. Our particular campsites backed up to SR 16, but we were below grade and traffic nearly disappeared at night. Our campsite neighbor said she watched two moose wander in the meadow across from our campsites one morning (we were fast asleep). Sites where we were camped are back-in sites, with a slight uphill slant to the "drive": do-able if you're comfortable backing your rig!

Nice tent pads and sites are decently spaced apart. New fire ring, stove stand and lantern hook. All sites had a picnic table. It’s buggy right by the water but our thermacell kept them at bay. Some sites are reservable online, the rest are first come first serve which is nice. And if the campground is full there are plenty in Bighorn. Zero cell signal.

We reserved a spot on recreation.gov and used this as a stop on our way back east after visiting Yellowstone. The Big Horn Mountains were beautiful and this campground is in a great spot. We stayed in site 10, which is a double and costs a little more. However, this site had amazing views down the hill and back over the lake. There are nice fire pits with cooking greats, picnic tables and prep areas with hooks. The bathroom was a pit toilet but very well-maintained. The camp host was friendly and stopped to welcome us. There are bundles of firewood to purchase at the host site. The moose stopped by at night and in the morning to welcome us as well! We would definitely stay here again.

We were not able to stay here because both our Norcold refrigerator as well as ourselves were suffering from altitude sickness. The campground is right on Highway 16 (road noise at site 1 for sure) at 8,300' MSL. Propane appliances don't really work above 5,500' MSL.
