Lake O'Neill Campground

Stayed one night visiting daughter and son in-law. DOD civilian/veteran rate was $53
Very low water pressure. Bathhouse was fairly clean with plenty of hot water. It was 90 degrees at the camp and only 77 at my daughters house near the coast. The signs for check in are confusing but you check in at the retail store on the south side of the lake.

Must have military base access privileges. Easy reservation on day of arrival. Rate was $33/nt plus the $2/nt pet fee. Park is well into the base, which made it sunny at the trailer while overcast with a sea fog along the coast on the evening and morning of our stay. Fairly easy excursion to Oceanside and Carlsbad, passing the MCX, a mini-MCX, food court, and two fuel stations (prices around $0.20 lower than around town) on the way to and from. We were in the parallel parking lot along the lake with water and electrical services along the grass line. Must disconnect and parallel park the tow vehicle to the trailer door side to avoid blocking access to others. Bath house was clean and sufficient. A single dump station near the entrance was the only wastewater solution for the parallel parking sites.

As is typical for military campgrounds, there is a smattering of long term assignees to the base, long-term retiree residents, and short term retirees and vacationing military members.
