The host said there were only 4 sites available Sat morning and they were gone by 10am. A bit annoying they don’t have a sign at the bottom of the road telling you the campground is full. We ended up going to the Coal Creek Dispersed camping across the road and it was actually a great option! Should have just gone there in the first place.

The sites are large and easy to get into. We have a 27 foot trailer and had no problems. Spectacular scenery in all directions. Seems to have a younger crowd, lots if mountain bikers and young families.
No water, no dump. We didn’t use the outhouses but they seemed a little smelly when we walked by. The campground roads are dusty.

Wait. Make sure you have the facts. We visited the tourist center and then travelled down a very long, rough road and set up our camp before we found out the tourist literature was wrong. There is no drinking water at this campground! The hosts said it has been promised for the last 3 years. We wasted a whole bunch of time going here. That said, the sites are beautiful but best use an off road vehicle to get there.

Lake great to SUP or kayak on although small for some kayakers. Path around the lake full of wild flowers. Close to many hiking and mountain biking opportunities. We have a 25 foot Bigfoot trailer and truck and the site we had overlooked the lake with lots of space. Close to Crested Butte.

A drive-by review because the campground was still closed for the season so we took our SUP and friends up for a picnic and to paddle around the beautiful lake at 10,515 feet above sea level.
