Huge, open site lines and a beautiful place to see stars at night. I currently have 2 bars Verizon and 1 AT&T (sometimes fluctuate up a bar each) on iPhone XR.
There’s a locked gate - you’ll need to register for free online (takes 5 minutes) and then you can let yourself in & out for the duration of your stay.
Follow the dirt road down, take your first available left turn, and continue until you see a sign on the right in an open, mowed field, and... home sweet home.
There’s no marked areas, people just pull in and set up where there’s room. My 26’ fifth wheel has a ton of space all around me, and there’s a ~50’ RV across from me also with plenty of space all around.
There’s 2 picnic tables & 1 fire ring present, first come first served. There’s almost no traffic, save for a tractor pulling tourists by once a day or so. The dirt road has a gate, so not much action or thru-traffic.
I’m here in January - I’ve only seen 2 mosquitoes so far. There are cattle nearby that wander over in the evening to say hello every once in a while.
This isn’t a site for the fancy folks that need full hookups, wifi, and cable tv but it IS exactly what I was looking for!
The large open area is magnificent for solar powered arrangements, and generators can be run at your own discretion. Make sure to arrive with plenty of water & empty tanks if you plan to stay a while - I haven’t found anything closer than 30 miles for that yet.
Provisioning in advance is advised - getting the gate open and closed each time can be a chore and the closest town with big-box stores is about 30 miles away.
Be aware - this is a wild area. Bears, big cats, gators, and snakes are present, although I haven’t seen any. I haven’t ventured far off the beaten paths either though.

Was excited to see the cows come hang out every night just at dusk, being a farmer from Wisconsin, this was fun. You are 45 mins from the nearest Walmart so stock up and yes there are prickers in the grass. Lots of places to hike and geocache. There is a Wagon ride from the ranch that comes thru on Sat afternoons, but that's the only sign of life we saw. Walked down to the river to fish, had a nice time for a free campsite. Thanks again SWIFTMUD. One bar with AT&T, my straighttalk service AS ALWAYS was great.

Awful. Nothing but a barren field with a couple of old picnic tables. Turned around and left. Too bleak and awful. Verizon MiFi worked there, though.

We stayed 2 nights in this nice free spot to catch our breath during traveling. The campground was fairly easy to find, although we missed the Kicco Grade Rd turnoff in the dark. You actually enter the grounds of River Ranch Resort, thern turn onto a dirt road shortly after passing the resort's guard station.
We made our reservations online on a Saturday morning and the permit was emailed to us within minutes for that night.
We saw a half dozen other folks walk or bike by, but otherwise we felt secluded. We could hear some faint music and see a glow from the resort, and could hear airboats in the canal. Saw cattle grazing (unfenced), lots of birds, deer and a wild pig, as well as coyote sign.
There are no actual sites, it's really just an open field, but there are two picnic tables and one fire ring, although their condition isn't great. We recommend keeping pups on a leash as there are lots of sticky and painful burrs around. Overall, this is a fine place to relax a bit if you enjoy boondocking.

We stayed one night at the spoil area campground. It was easy to find. There is a fire ring and a picnic table on the site. When you make your online reservation you receive a gate code to get in the secure facilities. When we arrived we saw a heard of cattle close buy. At first I though they were behind some type of fencing. They came up closer while we were setting up camp to take a look at us. During the night you could hear wildlife throughout the night including cows mooing, coyotes howling, and hogs snorting. The only thing we didn't like is the droning in the distance of some type of pump or generator during the night. The campgrounds at KICCO are all free but they do require a reservation on their website. Their are cow pies and sand stickers everywhere so keep your shoes on. There is a portable toilet at the front gate no water, showers, or dumping stations. There are no other services provided.

I see reviews from those who truly enjoy the fact that this place is free, and then from those who, well….what where you expecting? If you want posh, got to posh, not a boondocking site. Good grief.
