Honestly you couldn't be any closer to the park entrance on the south side then staying here. There is a lot more space here then in the park where you have to squeeze your rig in and pay for it. There is a dump and water fill in the park. Suggestion stay here and dump there. Since we have a dog there were only 3 trails we could do in the park so we looked for other trails. We found Painted Canyon which was beautiful and ride there was as scenic as driving through the park. The campsite was quiet and beautiful at night. Fair warning don't drive over the fire pits. Previous folks apparently burned pallets and left behind a ton of nails. Also there are no facilities so if you are not self contained, or have a way to manage your human waste please find someplace else to camp. Oh and if you are pulling in at 5:00 AM don't use someone else's spot for a turnaround or try to squeeze in. Cell service was amazing.

We are heading to N-CA from Phoenix area. This is only 200 miles along the way but a nice free spot 2mikes off I10. The camping is just before the South entrance to Joshua Tree. Hoping for stars tonight

Way better than the Joshua tree north site.
No privacy which is just how the desert works. Good sites. Mostly in a wash so sandy and a bit deep in some places so be careful and all wheel drive is a must.
Quiet but was busy.

Nice and spread out with ole ty of spots with fire rings... The sky was so filled with stars and I watched satellites stream across... Very quiet, but occasionally had ATV and dirts bikes come down the road... Be careful there are sandy spots so lookout ahead is a good plan! I have a Weboost cell booster so please ty of call and data available for working while vacationing.

One neighbor said he got stuck last time he visited and we helped another neighbor tow himself out of the sand. The right side is sandier than the left side of the road (when coming in from I10). Far from all stores and restaurants. The entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is about 8 miles up the road. There is a dump station and potable water located near the campground in the park.

This is the south side of the park so in order to hike the most popular and exciting hikes, expect to drive about 1 hour through the park to get there. The drive is calming though. AT&T cell service worked well at campsite and surrounding BLM land, but no service in the park. We would definitely stay here again.

The road in can get a bit soft but we had no trouble finding a spot safely. It is very dusty and sites have no real privacy. Great for visiting the south end of the park and Box Canyon.

If making a right turn onto the dirt from the main road, it’s very rough. We went about a mile down due to the size of our trailer, and had to get creative when leveling it, but it worked out. There’s a lot of spots closer to the main road and entrance to Joshua Tree NP but they were mostly taken while we were there or for smaller rigs.

Great campsite with great internet for full-timers. There are plenty of campsites and most have a good amount of privacy.
The winds are insane at night (50mph+) and would recommend parking camper North to South or opposite. If you park east to west, the winds are crazy, even in our 31 foot Class A.
