Plenty of dispersed camping. Most camps are 100s of feet apart. Not much true privacy given the desert environment. No shade. No trees. Ground is crushed granite and can be soft in certain pullouts. Potable water fill and dump station only a few mins away at Cottonwood Campground in the NP. ATT 20/0.5. T-Mobile 3/ 0.5

Great place to stay nice desert views. We put out water for dog and before we knew what was happening had hundred of desert bees looking for a drink to hours before the left after we removed water

Overall an ok place to explore the national park, but would stay as far away as possible from the main dirt road.

Most spots have a ring or rocks but it can get windy quickly. Gas station a few exits to the E on the highway. Little farther 30 minutes to the W more services. Most people kept to there own spots as there were plenty but I did have an Rv pull into my area(about 30ft) middle of the day which Is technically fine but weird. Asked them to move because there’s lots of road. Prius also pulled in middle of the night and car camped and was gone early. So some traffic generally safe enough due to the amount of people around.

As others have stated, just off I-10 on the Cottonwood Springs Rd. Exit but cannot hear road noise. Chiriaco Summit 4 miles east and Coachella/Indio ~25 miles west. Dump Station and water ~6 miles down Cottonwood Springs Rd. toward JT Park. Can be windy at times. Room for all types of RVs.

Second time camped here. I love it. Enough RVs around to feel safe while leaving the trailer during the day to explore the area. There is a dump station inside Joshua Tree NP’s Cotton wood camp ground if you’re here for extended stay. Great for star gazing.

Very large open area right outside the south entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. About a mile off of I-10, but surprisingly little road noise. As others have noted, it's not particularly level, but I've seen worse. I wouldn't want to stay for weeks, but it's a fine spot for a night or two.

I stayed on the east side of the road about a mile in from the pavement. It was private and quiet ( I could see the interstate but not hear it). Lots of trash upon arrival but a few minutes of clean up and it was clean and comfortable. Flowers are blooming!!
