I stayed here for five nights in mid-March' 23. The campground is a mix of tent/RV loops and has multiple boat ramps into Johnson Creek which feeds into Lake 'O the Pines. I was in site E210 (RV area 2). Place was packed over the weekend, cleared out quite a bit during the week. I check out all four RV loops, and it's one of the most crowded COE campgrounds I've seen (and I've seen a lot). Site spacing in pretty close, but slightly better than commercial parks. I lucked out on E210, it was a pull-through that perched overlooking the lake. It was among the more private sites. Fairly level sites in loops, some asphalt, some concrete. Water/Elec, picnic pad and table and fire rings at all sites. I would definitely recommend and go back but pick your sites carefully if you want privacy - think Google satellite view or Google Earth. Pretty decent cell signal for Verizon, so-so for ATT. Only $12 (50% off with America the Beautiful Pass).

First night in our class B. Nice campground. Clean and quiet with beautiful lake views. We arrived late but our site pass was left out for us and the lady at checkout was very nice and helpful.

There are beautiful views of the lake from most of the sites. Site 208 is a pull thru right on the water. We had to really maneuver around for our driver side slide to extend because of a tree. The place really needs mowing but it’s rained a lot lately. When we arrived, there were deer everywhere.

Bathrooms were not in the greatest shape and only the one in section 4 seemed to be cleaned. Section 2 was out of order and I was told by other campers it had been out of order 6-8 months ago as well.
Internet was surprisingly slow at our site, compared to other reports. We use a cat20 modem and very modern 5G phones and even have a cell booster and we struggled to get workable internet. Weather impacted this to the point of being unusable during rain storms. We have access to ATT, Verizon, Visible, Sprint and T-Mobile and none of them was great. If one was working though, most often it was Verizon with AT&T close behind. Speeds at good times were 5-10 Mbps and at slower times more like .5-1 Mbps. It did not rain the whole time, maybe 2-3 days so even on good days we did not get the same speeds as others have reported, inside or outside.
The campground itself was truly lovely. Big trees, deer, lovely lake views and a nice new playground and protected beach area for summer will be lovely. Even the tent sites were well appointed with water and electric at section 2, I am not sure about section 1 tent sites. For the RV areas the sites were very level and easy to setup. The dump station was fine, not great but it's a sewer so not expecting 5 stars or anything. No excessive noise that we noted.
You are a ways away from Marshall and Longview here for groceries and the like. there's a dollar general in the town a mile or two outside the park and a couple of small convenience stores, but if laundry is needed or something more specialized than dollar general can do it's a 35-40 minute drive to marshall and longer to Longview. Smaller grocery stores may be available closer, unsure.
We had a great visit

If you're planning on using satellite TV, this site isn't the best.
My only complaint is that the signs in the campground aren't the best at letting you know which loop and/or sites are contained at each turn. If you're coming in at night and you're in a big rig with a tow vehicle I'd recommend unhooking the tow and driving to find your spot.
The dump station is right up front and seems to be well maintained.
Overall super happy with this campground and kind of surprised there aren't more reviews. There weren't many people here when we were (11/9/20). I'd estimate half full, at best.

This is a beautiful campground on a gorgeous lake, Lake O' the Pines, in Avinger, TX. Being a COE park the sites are good sized, paved and mostly level. We had one right on the water's edge. The view was restful and beautiful. There's lots of wildlife. We saw deer right in front of the RV and walking around the sites. A flock of beautiful ducks lived in the area right off our site's shoreline. There was also a lovely blue crane over toward the boat ramp. My husband saw white pelicans in the swimming area. We're here in November so there's no swimming, just boating and fishing.
We were near the boat launch area, but it wasn't noisy at all, even though it looked like there was a fishing tournament going on. Bass Pro Shops had a tent.
The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because I found the rest/shower rooms substandard. For two loops, there were in each side of the one restroom facilities just two toilet stalls and one shower. The outside door didn't latch and the changing area opened right off the entrance, with no door. One could open the door (which swung in the wind anyway) and look right into the shower area. There were two hooks on the wall and no benches at all. Inside the shower itself was a bench of sorts built into the wall and tiled. The door had one hook, but the entire door was wet, so you couldn't hang even a towel on it. The restroom was not heated and could have been cleaner.
