We were planning to stay at the local fairgrounds, but we never got confirmation they were open probably due to the amount of rainfall and the fairgrounds were closed. About an hour out, we decided to find another campground (CG) and found Johnny’s and called. They had a site available and told us to turn into the CG at the sign and not on Perch Street. With that tip and RV GPS, we arrived at the CG with no issues. We were greeted outside as we arrived and shown to our back-in spot with full hookups. Site 9 was a fairly easy back-in off Perch Street, except we had to be careful of a low-hanging cable that the city had not fixed. We are 13'5 high, but we were able to avoid the cable. The utilities were at the very back of a part asphalt, and part cement pad. This was a basic site with hook-ups and cable only; there was no picnic table or fire ring. We needed 25’ for water and electric. The sewer connection was a little closer, but we did not hook up for this overnighter. They have cable, but we did not hook it up. We got 4 bars on Verizon. The sites are quite close together and there’s not much area to walk your dog in the CG itself, but across the street, there’s a nice trail that leads to the beach. They do have a nice-looking laundry, but we didn’t use it. This CG has mostly full-timers or seasonal, but everyone was friendly.

“Very accommodating And Safe ”

Overall Rating
Johnny’s was very accommodating to me and my two very tired dogs. The location is very nice and the park is clean and safe. We just stayed one night. We dropped in mid afternoon without a reservation. I would highly recommend.

Reservations made for Tuesday night. Arrived in the rain at 7:30 pm tired Called the number on the door, no answer so we just picked an space. Manager came by two hours later saying he fell asleep. This place is so crowded and close together that I would not rank them more than a 3. Anything close to a 4 rating is not accurate and misleading.
No communication since.

We decided to try new places on the western coast. Johnny’s at the Beach is becoming a quaint little, no frills or glitz place to spend the night. Johnny is slowly remaking the place his parents had in the 40’s. Great history and photos when life was simpler. We were tucked in next to the office with out backend next to the dock and deck. Comfy chairs to sit and watch the tide come in and out.we had a delicious at Gills by the Bay Seafood. We’ll make a point of returning to see the changes.

We decided to try different places along the west coast and Johnny at the beach was a pleasant surprise. We were tucked right next to the office with our back to the dock and deck with a couple of comfy chairs. No glitz or frills and the bay is at the entry to the park. Johnny 2.0 is gradually making changes from his parents day and was a pleasure to talk to and learn about the history of this former fishing hang out. Had a delicious breakfast a few steps down the street at Gills by the Bay Seafood. We’ll be back.

Last minute decision to avoid Nevada heat and head to coast. Johnnys At The Beach had us an RV spot. Lucky us, as #33 is located at entrance and next to a quiet road with the beachfront right out the door/seen as we sat at our dining table in trailer-watching the fog roll in, the ever changing sunsets and dog walkers too. Hookups worked fine. Cement pad; wide space for trailer and truck. Other spots not as lucky with side by side sites; only view would be sitting outdoors at hitch-end ;hoping next rig not longer than yours. 2 sites across form us parking parallel to property line would have a nice view too. Easy access from Hwy 101
Johnny and Brian welcoming and helpful hosts. Do review their website as its full of useful suggestions plus a outstanding picture of their office mural. Lotsa history for this rv campground. Office has a tourist magazine with map of area.
No shower house; reason for 4 stars. There are restrooms; no hand dryer/paper towels; has soap. No wifi/cable/ Over the Air TV. Our Verizon phones/hotspot worked well.

The place was clean and well taken care of. The staff (our host, Sean), was really helpful in getting our rig backed in. This is a typical urban style RV park without the rustic atmosphere. If you are looking for a wooded, secluded area, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a nice, quiet place near Eureka bay, then this is a great place.

This is your usual beach RV Park with spots right next to each other…BUT…the staff is so helpful from the minute we drove in.
