This is what we expect when camping. Beautifully wooded but well taken care of. Also the lake is a perfect view. No the sites aren’t level, but ya deal with it and enjoy. The town of Shelby is nearby and is worth a visit. We would definitely come back. Bathhouse is clean, and staff was friendly!

It has everything you need -- water, sewer, 30/50a electric, free wifi. The campers here seem to be a more respectful bunch...very quiet. Only the first few sites have any sort of view of the water, and then at that, it's mostly just the spillway. It's next to a 2-lane road so there is some road noise. The campground is gated for security.

Very small campground.. heard a lot of complaints of unlevel.. we stayed at site 14.. pull through and level.. full hookups for 20 a night I'm not complaining a bit !

Stayed here one night and loved it, yes you can hear the traffic on the road that runs along side the campground but everything else is very peaceful. Beautiful view of the lake from my spot. Friendly park employees. Nothing bad to say. Loved it!

- Price
- Picnic tables, fire ring and grills at campsites
- Staff are friendly and helpful
- Full hook-ups
CONS:
- Uneven campsites (but nothing a couple jacks and blocks can’t fix)
- Says no swimming at the beach area? We were here in January so not sure about summer time lol but our dogs definitely went swimming!
Cannot comment on bathhouse as we never used it:)

We stayed here over a year ago and came back for a week in late Feb/early March 2021. We stayed an entire week for $100--not sure you can beat that for full hook-ups. We stayed here over a year ago and came back for a week in late Feb/early March 2021. We stayed an entire week for $100--not sure you can beat that for full hook-ups. Very quiet during our stay with only a few other campers. The marina had a ton of boats the day we arrived but that slowed down with rain/cooler weather over the weekend. Close access to both Shelby and Kings Mountain, not too far from Gastonia and Charlotte just a bit beyond that, though COVID put a damper on our touring. Only one real negative for us--it seemed that most cars leaving the marina seemed to want to audition for NASCAR. Not sure why they get such a kick out of revving and peeling out of the lot, but whatevs. A Sheriff/Lake Patrol car seemed to constantly sit around the campground but did nothing about the cars other than watch. Also a surprising amount of traffic background noise, but we get used to that quickly.

$20 for full hook up pull-in site. Shelby has food/gas, etc. Not far from Charlotte. Helpful staff. Great fishing area.

Small campground owned by the city, view of lake, very nice staff, boating, however at this time nothing for kids, however they are building playground I was told! Which will be great, right now I wouldn’t bring kids, no swimming but can fish I’m told and there are boat ramps! Campground is not gated at night! Makes me a little nervous... more

The bathroom is my only issue..could use a remodel.. the staff are very friendly and funny
