We have a 36ft class A motor home and had no problems getting in the park. Sites are small and tight but we were able to back in with no problem. Only had 4 pull thru sites which were already taken. Our site was pretty level but others did not look level. View of lake was nice and great area to walk the dog. Rules stated that you can only stay in a site for 2 weeks, then have to move, however a few of the sites looked rather permanent. Overall, for the money this was a good park. Would stay here again.

Our site was spacious, at the top of the hill, and pretty unlevel. We had a decent view of the lake and the spillway, though. Probably one of the two best spots with views in the park. However, one thing about this park will likely prevent us from returning - the entrance. There is a dip right before a steep incline up to the ridge (hilly edge?) of the lake. We have a 38 ft 5th wheel and our back bumper scraped the asphalt going in and out despite all our careful maneuvering. This is just not going to work. The park is not worth damaging our camper. If you have a short rig you likely wouldn’t have this issue. The trees were tall and plentiful. Birds chirping all the time. I see the bathrooms were a disappointment for some reviewers. Not the worst we’ve seen, but I thought maybe they had been repainted. Each site has a garbage can that is for your waste, ours was full when we arrived. Our site had little bits of trash all over the ground. As a workamper, I do believe the employees could do a better job of cleaning/prepping the site before a new guest arrives (we had a reservation months in advance).

Sights are very bad uneven. But when someone comes around waking you up at 8 on a Sunday morning makes for a bad camping....I can take my own trash off and don't like someone messing around my camper at that time of morning!

Moss Lake Campground was a great resource for us as we transitioned from selling our home and being "homeless" so to speak! I agree with the previous reviews that sites at the campground are not level. The best site we found was 28 but it faced the entry and parking area and was on the corner of the main drive out of the campground. Our first site, 17, had a water view but had an extreme drop in the rear. We were not able to get level the two weeks we stayed at this site.
Sites have a maximum two-week stay, then after four weeks you must leave the campground for two days minimum. The sewer connection at our first site, 17, was more than 20 feet away so we had to visit the local RV store in Kings Mountain to purchase extra hose. Site 28 was "normal" with respect to all connections.
Previous reviews talk about the lake view. The campground is adjacent to the spill over for the lake. This was an amazing thing to see after a big rain! This lake also had plenty of beautiful ducks and geese. We did not experience issues with wildlife, but greatly enjoyed them in the parking lot and on the water. We even saw a beautiful heron. Muscovy ducks were prevalent at the parking area, as well as mallards. One morning we enjoyed a gaggle of Canadian geese. Such beauty!
We, too, found the customer service to be impeccable. The office staff were very friendly and understood our "homeless" situation and tried to help as much as they could. They even offered a treat to our Lizzie every time she came in to the office!
Overall, we would visit this campground again as long as we could get site 28 (or maybe another level site). You can't beat the price and if you stay seven nights, you get two nights free! The campground was policed often and yes, there is a major road close by and boaters come in early in the morning but the value and being near the water were hard to beat!
If people are looking for things to do in the area, Kings Mountain Battleground is close by as well as Shelby's Don Gibson Theatre and Earl Scruggs Museum. Crowders Mountain and South Mountains state parks are also close by and worth the visit! Each August, Shelby and Cleveland County host the American Legion Baseball World Series as well!

Heater broken in mens washroom, broken light fixtures, hooks are gone to hang your clothes, and paint is peeling so bad you were washing with paint chips on your wash cloth. Women's was exactly the same except heat was working. We have been camping in state parks for over 40 years and this is the worst comfort station ever. The staff should be ashamed. Also there is no more swimming here.

Even though there are full hook-ups at all sites, including 50 amp service, at best the campground is "rustic". On the plus side, it is situated next to a beautiful lake, so if you are boating (small fee required), the boat dock is nearby and there is parking for boats and trailers just outside the actual campground.
Unfortunately, there is no swimming in the lake. Despite there being a great beach, complete with lifeguard station and floating dock, the city has outlawed swimming in the lake - at least around this campground. When I asked the nice staff guy that checked us in about any locations actually available for swimming, he didn't know of any. I can only wonder what happened to make the city ban all swimming in the lake.
The campground itself is surrounded by an 8 ft. chain link fence with barb wire on the top. Not sure if it is to keep the campers safe inside or to keep them from escaping. In any event, it is a little strange.
The staff I dealt with were friendly. The gentleman who checked me in even brought my drink cup to me at the site after I left it on the counter in the office.
There is some noise from the main state highway that runs pretty close to the edge of the campground.
