“Awesome Little Campground On The Lake. ”

We had no idea what to expect but we’re more that pleased with this sweet little campground. We were in site 1 which is right on the lake with a beautiful unobstructed view. Site were spaced fairly far apart. We were the only ones here except the camp host who we never saw. We had a few deer visit us as well as a flock of Canadian geese every day. There are no hookups but they do have a water source to fill your water tank. No dump site but there are a few down the road as well as at the Conoco in Helena which is about a half hour drive. We are already planning another visit. A little slice of heaven In beautiful Montana.
Renee would stay here again

“Smaller sites, packed in like sardines”

Jo Bonner is the smallest campground offered by the Bureau of Reclamation along Canyon Ferry Lake. The campground still offers some sites large enough for full sized fifth-wheels, but most of the sites look to be intended for small to medium sized RVs. These campsites are also close together.
Access road into Jo Bonner Campground is on asphalt, while the road within the campground is hard packed gravel. Sites are all on gravel pads, and seem pretty level.
You can reserve sites online at Recreation.gov, but you can also get a site on a walk-in basis. This is a very busy campground. Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are best days for arrival if you attempt walk-in.
It's still dry camping despite the daily fee. You get picnic tables and fire rings. The campground has a pit toilet, water access, and a boat ramp. There's a trash dumpster and a potable water fill. You're also within the town limits of Cave Bay and a close drive to bars, restaurants, and stores.
Do expect noise here. Lots of families riding bicycles, playing on grass, and people partying on the weekends.
Verizon 4G coverage is not that great, I was getting 2 bars. It's still workable, a little better with our WeBoost.
