We wanted a bit more privacy so we passed the trail head and camped a bit further up. The road is pretty bumpy but pretty easily manageable for most RVs and campers. You can find a pretty flat spot to get leveled on without much trouble.
Plenty of space - shouldn't fill up.
We have solar and pretty large tanks so we were good to go for a while until we ran out of water.
Not too far from Cottonwood or Sedona and free beats $30-60 for hook ups!
It was a bit of a bummer that there was scatter trash around - caught in the bushes.
Nice views of the red rocks in the distance. You can hike around and head down to the creek or hang out in the sun. We were greeted with hot air balloons over head one morning.

Folks seem to camp pretty close to their neighbors here, but we managed to find a spot with some privacy. Access was good, cell was good, nice views of the valley. Little trash laying around, but not too bad. Would camp here again when in the Sedona area.

We stayed in the first large pull out area on the left. We had ample room for 3 Airstreams and tow vehicles. If you continue up the hill you will find darling campsites tucked on the right- too small for much more than tents or small truck campers. But you will swoon with feelings of peace and serenity.
Continue further and the road gets more treacherous, but more good spots abound. We would not choose to trailer into this area. Further down you will come to dispersed camping along Oak Creek- beautiful area. 4x4 and tents only. Very sandy and muddy so beware if wet.

Really, when boon docking, all I'm needing is quiet and level, and no drama. This road is just that. There were many folks in the pull outs along this road, everyone seemed courteous and quiet, tidy and respectful.
ALSO important: the 525 road nearby was MUDDY after a rain and we nearly got stuck in it. This road is gravelly, and we betted that if it were to rain, we'd have enough traction to get out. We learned that this is an important consideration :0)

Angel Valley Rd., also known as road 89B, is located approximately 11 miles SW of Sedona off of 89A. The road in is nicely graded gravel and there is a large parking area close to 89A with room for larger rigs. There is a major trailhead here with vault toilets. There are other dispersed camping sites farther in on 89B and we stayed in one that had a great view of Cathedral Rock and other major rock formations. Unfortunately this was the best part of camping here. We were here at the end of October and the dust and goatheads (very tough, spiny, painful to step on, seed pods) were out of control. You couldn't take a step outside the trailer without getting a shoe full and this would NOT be a good site if you had dogs. During the day there was traffic coming and going from Angel Valley Retreat at the end of the road which added to the dust problem, but when there was no traffic it was very quiet. We also had hot air balloons in the morning which was nice but there were sightseeing planes and helicopters viewing the red rocks of Sedona. The campsite was mostly level which was also a plus. We have a 27 ft. travel trailer and the site had room to turn but we were the only ones there at the time, it would be too crowded with other trailers there. Cell service and internet were fine with Verizon.
