Small, Nonprivacy, No Bathrooms.. I Liked It Better When It Was Dispersed And We Could Choose The Camping Spots Along The Road

This was my first true dispersed camping spot and I absolutely loved it. The spot was right in the mountains and absolutely gorgeous. The road is not maintained and is very rocky and bumpy with a lot of potholes, but my little Ford Transit Connect made it easily. There is a trail first on the road that you cannot stay overnight at but it does have bathrooms for use. There are two disbursed spots. The first was full when I went so I kept driving and found the other. It was quiet and peaceful. I felt completely safe. Further up on the road is a nice little creek to swim in as well! I highly recommend this sight. The road is tough but not unbearable. It’s fairly easy to get to even at night. And if you rise early enough in the morning you can see hot air balloons going through the mountains.

Stayed here a couple weeks in November 2021 at the second circle and it was nice and quiet with great views of Sedona. No hookups, dry camping and sometimes got a bar on Verizon nothing on T-Mobile. 8 miles to Sedona and Cottonwood.

Continuing down the road, It turns into a one lane dirt road and then gated private areas. No way to back up or turn around! We had to wake up the residents and get permission to get the gate opened, go over a steep drop off bridge, and then spend over an hour getting turned around. It was a mess! If you are over 30ft I highly discourage you from choosing this road.

If you have low clearance than I would not recommend going down. It’s is a bumpy road so I would suggest to scout from the day use area before heading down to the site. We had 4 other smaller transit vans show up after we settled in during the month of January so it might get crowded. The view from this area is incredible. It’s about 15 min from Sedona and the Red Rock trails. Would of stayed longer but the forecast called for snow and didn’t want to take any chances.
