Definitely check out the 3 Dunes Challenge hike, we completed it with our 10 year old son and loved it!

We spent our very first night in our motor coach here. Entrance was a little tight (first brushes always the hardest!!) but sites are spacious and very clean. Lots of trees- we had an end spot affording lots of privacy. Can't wait to get back again.

Yes, the sites are tight together, but everything else is amazing! So many great hikes. Short walk from campground to the beach/Lake Michigan. Lots of trees. Many spots look less than desirable (near a trail head or garbage) but when we got there, the site was amazing.

Lots of low limbs this campground more suited for tent camping. Not good for solar power. Short drive to very nice beach.

Paid $35 per night for 2 nights here. Check-in is pretty late but that also means checkout is late. We left on a Sunday and checkout time was 5pm. Gave us plenty of time to do the 3 dune hike (which starts right at the campground) and go explore the beach.
We used the showers to conserve our water and because the kids were coered in sand. Even though the showers are your basic public gym shower style, it was nice to have warm water to wash off all the sand.
Sites are spacious with large trees. We had site 43 on the end and it was great for easy access and had some large trees for hanging hammocks.

This is a special place where you can stay for even one night as we did and leisurely walk to the Dunes Beach and enjoy the beauty of the expanse of Lake Michigan. Our back in site was big enough for our Class C, car, picnic table and dog tie out. The site was a concrete pad and made for easy leveling. Would go back again.

Dunes has several miles of beautiful beach on Lake Michigan. The state park is surrounded by Indiana Dune National Park which makes it a nature lovers paradise. You can go down to the Pavilion in the evening and catch some spectacular sunsets.
The park is home to the “3 Dune Challenge”, a trail system that is only 1.5 miles long but takes you to the summit of the three tallest sand dunes in the park. If you never hiked up a sand dune it’s a real challenge.
The is situated close enough to Chicago you can drive into to town to catch a ball game, visit one the many museums or grab some famous Chicago Pizza. Don’t want to drive into town, hop on the South Shore Line and ride the rail into town, a train station is conveniently located just outside of the park.
Chicago not your thing take a drive up Michigan’s west coast! Visit the St. Joseph lighthouse or drive on up to Holland, MI and visit the Dutch windmill.
Whatever your pleasure is you can find it at or around Indiana Dunes State Park.

Plenty of hiking and places to explore. Wonderful sunsets every night. the ONLY thing is that cell for us (Verizon) was pretty bad. Was surprised to see the 4 bar rating. We had 1-2 bars at best and sometimes at the beach, 3g or NO service at all if it was busy.
