I was wondering how the drive is getting to the campground. Are there really steep hills to drive up? Thank you!

We have been traveling full time for a year, always in search of the perfect campsite that combines an experience in nature with the convenience of hookups. Indian Creek Campground just made the very top of our list!!! THE BEST! Beautiful private sites, surrounding by the sounds of the rushing creek. All staff was above and beyond friendly and helpful, made us feel at home. We have a 36ft travel trailer and had ample space on 3 different sites (we moved 3 times so we could extend our stay!) Friends came and stayed on a tent site, amazing privacy right on the creek. Can’t say enough all around about this campground. You won’t be disappointed!!!
Hot showers, clean bathhouse, firewood delivery, stocked fishing, huge sites.

We’ve camped in several campgrounds around this area over the past couple of months and this one is definitely our favorite - we will be returning. We stayed in site 31 and had no neighbors for our three mid-week night stay. The staff is wonderful. They admonish you to NOT walk through other people’s sites when you check in; I’m sure this could be an issue for those staying right on the creek. The park was really quiet, and the facilities were clean.
Contrary to other campgrounds we’ve stayed in, the road going into the campground is wide and comfortable driving (FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE WEBSITE as others have said). The Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky National Park are within minutes driving. There are some really good restaurants in Cherokee.
Staff volunteered to drive us to our site, and then actually backed us in - which was appreciated. They have one large trash receptacle that was just across from our site, but they pick up garbage from all sites at 10, 2 and 8 - which is really convenient.
There are some beautiful sites right on the river - as someone else said, talk to staff when you call to make your reservation so they know what’s important to you, when choosing your site. Highly recommend!

This park is DEFINITELY not for big rigs. We stayed on a double site (8) which is about the size of a regular big site. Our site was considered premium. There are so many trees it was very hard to get our 25 foot travel trailer around. It is a beautiful park with a beautiful creek running thru it. The folks here are very nice.
Although you are not supposed to go on others sites, they still do here. We were parked right on the creek and people came and went all day and night fishing from our site. It definitely was not enforced. A man was right outside my window very early in the morning fishing and hollering for another man to bring the net!!! Because of that we will not stay again. Also, because of the tightness in the park.
Mingo Falls trail is very near the park.
But.... for people who like to fish, this would be great. They restock the fish on occasion also.
There are premium sites away from the water with cable but still tight. No TV reception and pretty much no Wi-Fi. I was able to use my hotspot.

We used this campground as our home base to explore Great Smoky Mt National Park. As others have said there are a wide variety of campsites, hook ups, cabins, and spots for tents. Indian Creek is a lovely fast running stream. A stocked creek also runs by the campground. Our space was across the street from Indian Creek and it has a nice grassy front area plus a teeny stream behind the hookup area.
There is a fire ring and a picnic table with very narrow seats. We had room for our outside tent room.
Space 30 has a close neighbor on one side, but no one on the other. There was an intermittent sewer smell and our fire ring was way too close to neighbor’s sewer connection; fire ring, however be moved.
Park allows pets on lease. There were many dogs as with most campgrounds. The campground has a handy store, selling ice and firewood. The camp, in early June was quite dark due to many trees.
The place is well maintained and seems much nicer than the others you will pass along the way.

We enjoyed staying here. The staff is friendly and helpful, the facilities are in good shape.
We had full hookups at $50/night, so a bit pricey but not crazy expensive.
The water from the hookup tasted terrible, so we did not drink it.

DO NOT trust your gps. The campsite website has good directions you should follow.
It’s not too long a drive into town and into the national park - maybe 20 minutes.
Cell service was great on Verizon - in some parts of the park 10mbps down, in others closer to 25mbps down. AT&T no service.
Trout fishing from your campsite and nearby if that’s what you’re into.
No recycling on site, but there is one in Cherokee near the tribal offices / traffic circle if that’s important to you.
If you have a bigger rig, it might be a little tight getting into your spot or the dump station.

Staff run a quiet , clean campground and keep a watchful eye on all operations.
The prices at the campground store were very reasonable and they had everything we needed from RV accessories to live bait.
We purchased $15. Option for firewood and it was delivered to the site before we backed in.

This is a great place for trout fishing or just relaxing by a trout stream. A truck came through to stock the steam with fish and you’d think it was Christmas and birthdays all at once for those folks in their waders… and for me in my hammock.
Watch out for big deer along the road back to Cherokee… 10 miles through the hills.

This is a small and very low key campground that is fairly close to Cherokee and the National Park. Many sites are right on a small creek that is perfect for the kids to play in. The campground is very clean and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. You definitely feel like you are in a state park more than a commercial campground. Most sites are fairly small so they would be tough for bigger campers or motorhomes.
Location is a few minutes to Mingo falls and about 20 minutes to Cherokee.
If you are looking for peace and quiet but want to have an easy drive to many things this campground is the perfect fit.

We stayed in 1b for two nights and wish we could’ve stayed longer. Falling asleep to the sounds of the rushing creek was amazing. The bathrooms were very clean, the store well-stocked and the staff incredibly kind and helpful. The real only downfall is that it’s about 30 minutes outside of town. But will definitely go back! Trout fishing is awesome close and Mingo Falls which is a must see. While they have WiFi, I was only able to access while very close to the store and not from our campsite.
