We stayed here this Fourth of July and enjoyed our short stay (one night). Our lot faced the river and the area was quiet.

I cannot speak for other area campsites but believe me on this: If you are in Cherokee you should stay here, on the Raven Fork River, and you will enjoy your time in camp. The spaces were not fancy but rustic and well shaded. Large enough spaces so as not to be in each others business and everything but the river fades away. I've staye... more
I cannot speak for other area campsites but believe me on this: If you are in Cherokee you should stay here, on the Raven Fork River, and you will enjoy your time in camp. The spaces were not fancy but rustic and well shaded. Large enough spaces so as not to be in each others business and everything but the river fades away. I've stayed here a few times and I wish they would allow for online reservations but that isn't how it works and you just have to go with it. You will have to snail mail in a deposit (check) to reserve a site. Yes...that's a little bit of a hassle but you will not regret it. The people were all professional and polite and the space is a little bit outside of the main attractions that Cherokee has to offer but this is Cherokee and you are just a short drive away.

We spent seven days here in two spots right on the river... all of the river sites are full hookup and awesome sites... site 1A through 5A all right little noisy from the water but it was nice cuz if drowned it out any other noise... on the opposite side of the campground from the river there is camping in the grass for tents or small ... more
We spent seven days here in two spots right on the river... all of the river sites are full hookup and awesome sites... site 1A through 5A all right little noisy from the water but it was nice cuz if drowned it out any other noise... on the opposite side of the campground from the river there is camping in the grass for tents or small pop ups I'm in between the river sights and the grass sites is all concrete pads... the campground is clean and very well maintained and the owners are very helpful.. the little city of Cherokee is very nice and Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are within one hour's Drive.. there is a small waterfall up river that you can walk to within the campground ...would definitely Camp here again

River Valley Campground in Cherokee NC is the epitome of a naturalistic camp setting. Beautiful entrance and a warm welcome from camp workers who return year-after-year and who are willing to help navigating your rig into a spot if needed. The campground is Cherokee owned, and on tribal lands in a smaller valley with the Oconaluftee River flowing strong alongside. One half at the front is catch and release fishing with fly only, and the back half is catch and keep trout fishing; both need a tribal fishing permit which is available at the grocery up the hill. I’ve been here before, and I can’t say how much I love this campground, and I definitely plan on returning again. The campground is located just outside the town of Cherokee, and just outside the southern entrance of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. We had Verizon and had decent cell signal except during peak morning and evening hours. Basic cable is offered with your site. There is a small video game room, but if you are looking for lots of kid and family activities at your campground this is probably not for you. If you want a beautiful, relaxing, low key experience in nature, then this is it! The only downside is the bathroom/shower house. It is an outdated open concept style with small stalls, and although it is quite clean, it is not heated or cooled.

Nice campground although sites were a little small . the one we were in had some trees at the front which made some of the space useless. But we we right on the river and as we stepped out the door you could see the water tumbling over rocks in a small cascade. The sound was incredible for a Texas boy, our rivers don't make much noise... more
Nice campground although sites were a little small . the one we were in had some trees at the front which made some of the space useless. But we we right on the river and as we stepped out the door you could see the water tumbling over rocks in a small cascade. The sound was incredible for a Texas boy, our rivers don't make much noise unless they are at flood stage. the park was clean and had security. Our grandkids tubed on the river and if you fish there were a lot of Trout caught 20 feet from our camper. The campground is only a few miles from the southern entrance to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park . Cherokee is a typical small tourist town that now has a huge Harrahs casino if you are into that. The park has good Wi-Fi and pretty good unboosted cell service along with cable tv and water electric and sewer. This is not the type place we normally camp so I really don't have anything to compare it to and it seemed a little expensive but you can't beat the location.

It’s sad that you have a minimum of 1 month stay. We have been camping here at river valley for 30 years and now we have to find a new campground because we can only stay a week. Please change the minimum stay for working people . We love this campground and miss our trips to Cherokee and River Valley Campground
