I found a spot toward the back right by the stream. It was peaceful, until people decided to camp right next to me, though there was plenty of other spots that would have kept us farther apart. I never understand this (it was not like there was a better view).
The bugs were not bad. It was relatively clean of trash. I did see some fire rings. Not sure of a toilet. Also NO Verizon. Not sure of any camp spot in the area gets a Verizon signal.
I like this spot because it is free, easy access to hiking trails & town. Plus, there is a large dumpster on the other side of the road as you are driving out back toward town to get rid of your trash.

This looks like a great place but you need good clearance. Our low axel tt would have bottomed out. VERY large rocks to go over and some very deep ruts. Wished we could have stayed but went back to lander city park.

We had a quick stopover for a few hours of climbing and overnight stay in Sinks Canyon. This camping area has a pit toilet and numerous sites in which to set up camp. Nestled in the bottom of a cliff-banded canyon and surrounded by boulders and bordered by the Middle Popo Agie River, this was a great site for tents and smaller rigs.

We were going to camp in Lander at their city park that offers free camping, but it was super hot and wasn't going to cool off too much that night either. We opted to gain a little elevation and head up Sinks Canyon on Hwy 131. This spot is only 10-15 minutes from Lander and was perfect. We gained enough elevation so that we had a cool and comfortable evening. The free camping area is not huge, and it butts right up to the state park, but there is room for at least 8-10 campers while still having plenty of space between. There are also a handful of spots that back right up to Popo Agie River, which was roaring when we were there in Mid-July 2019. Access into the camp area off the hwy is on a dirt road which had a few rough spots, but nothing I needed to go into 4wd for.
