During the last several years we have spent approximately 50 nights at Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort in our class a motorhome. I considered it one of my favorite RV parks and after 50,000 miles traveling the country that was saying something. All that changed in 2022. New management with less concern about the renters experience, rude staff, extensive legal paperwork at check-in and aging common facilities have altered my opinion. Luckily my wife and I have found Hilton Head National RV Resort. We loved the new facilities, the on site gift shop, restaurant and bars, the amazing dog areas with wash stations and mostly, the very helpful staff.
The reason we hadn’t tried it before was my belief we needed to be on the island itself but we learned we have everything we need in Blufton right before the bridge with less congestion and wait times. The two outlet malls are a very short bike ride or walk. A cart path connects the RV park to the golf course. Other paths and trails are great for walking or biking . Downtown Blufton is a gem with shops and great restaurants. Fire pits and smoking grills are allowed here not like across the bridge. Best of all, the sites at Hilton Head National are not individually owned so the management is solely concerned about the renters experience and not keeping 300 owners happy.

Everything was smooth and easy. Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort is a community of motorcoach owners. All sites are privately owned. The sited are beautifully shaded, nicely paved and landscaped. Amenities include tennis and pickle ball courts, pool, exercise room, playground, and even a doggie shower. There are plenty of roads to walk dogs inside the resort, as well as a nice bike trail right around the corner outside the resort. It is a great resort, but very pricy. We have heard about this RV resort for years, and finally had the opportunity to stay here in March 2022 for nine days. Sharing a shorter review here, but we have a much more detailed review on our website at RVLove.com (link below)
This is an established motor coach resort in a very desirable tourist location. The landscaping is mature and beautiful. Most, if not all of the sites are privately owned, but many owners allow their sites to be rented to others when they are not there. Sites vary from simple smaller sites that need a little updating to large beautiful sites complete with outdoor kitchens and entertainment areas.
When renting a site, the website allows you to choose from all available sites, so it is worth spending a little time to find the right one since it will be the same price for most sites. Small up charge for RV sites along the water feature. The motor coach resort is generally peaceful, but most days you will hear grounds maintenance crews working to keep everything in tip top shape, for at least a little while. Also, some sites could experience noise from things outside of the park. For example, one area of the park is next to a car wash that can be quite noisy, especially in the busy summer season.
We chose site 358 and were very happy with it. Large, spacious site mostly made of paver stones, with a grassy area in the back for our dog to enjoy. The site also had an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, multiple umbrellas and comfy furniture. All sites are full hookup, but being a motor coach resort, they only allow motorhomes. BUT, unlike many motor coach resorts that only allow Class A coaches, this resort also allows Class C motorhomes as long as they are at least 25 feet long.
The surrounding area is touristy, but not at all trashy. It is the type of area where the signs for businesses (even fast food) are limited to more subtle colors. No giant billboards or brightly colored lighted signs. Hundreds of great restaurants, and a nice beach area. We even rode our electric bikes on the beach at low tide which was fun.
We had a wonderful time here and would definitely consider returning. Not inexpensive at over $100/night, it is more of a splurge for us.
Much more detail in our dedicated blog post review at our website. Here is a link if you are interested in learning more about our experience there.

Beautiful landscaping on comfortable accommodating private owner rental lots. Office staff exemplary and true southern hospitality. Lots of great bike trails everywhere on the island. BUT, noise from traffic and nearby businesses were spoilers.

The evenings were quiet though, and the neighbors are friendly. This is an aging community, and very FEW people are masking or distancing, too sad.
We were booked to stay 4 nights but left early because we couldn’t take all the noise anymore. Sad to say we probably won’t get refunded because the condescending office staff made us feel like we were the bad guys. Having just buried a family member who died from covid and we will be going home to another family member who has cancer. We just needed to relax for a while....not here.
We left and went to Savannah “CreekFire” a lovely newer RV resort...with lots of peace and quiet, a beautiful lake and wonderful wildlife. FYI the “lake” at HHI Motorcoach Resort” is a small pond...not a lake at all.

Lovely site, lush plants, paved lot with nice dining table and outdoor sofa, friendly staff. Dog park was outside of gated entrance, not cleared with leaf blowers used everywhere else. At least three other residents just let their dogs run in the tennis courts. We actually searched for other places to book so we could leave early. We cannot recommend based upon our experience.

“Beware of RV Class Size in this Overrated RVPark”
noted 8/26/2021
We have a Class C Leisure Travel Van. We stayed last year and enjoyed our stay despite our site needing some repairs. We made reservations for this week. When checking in they looked at our RV and asked if it was a Class C. They only allow Class A and C RV's. I said that yes it was a class C and that we stayed there last year without any questions as to the "suitability" of our rig. They said the owners of the lots DO NOT want anything but a Class A and C. They said some owners will walk around the place and if they see a rig that they "think" is a B they will complain to the front desk. They wouldn't take my word for it and wanted my registration and VIN number to verify. I was angry and complained that this was ridiculous. I just drove 6 hours in the heat and was tired. They said if you are not a C you will not be let in. The so called manager then got involved and was horribly rude and needed to take a class in how to handle upset customers. Our rig was verified and we were "let in the gates". We stayed one night and left. I will not stay at a place that looks down on me. Of note the place needs work and many of the owner sites are not up to standards. Do not stay here unless you want to feel like a second class citizen.
