This was our first experience at Thousand Trails. The campground is located on beautiful Lewis Smith Lake, and it was not overly busy at this time of year. One of the things we found disappointing was that All of the lake view sites are occupied by long term residents. So if you are a Thousand Trail member, using your membership just for travel, tough luck, you can’t camp with a lake view. Otherwise, we did enjoy exploring the local area. The pool area was nice and clean.
We also noted the laundry rooms are in need of repairs, I did let corporate know and was told new equipment was due to arrive by months in, but until then do not count on using the laundry room at the park.

It is right on a lake which is beautiful. The club house has toys and games for every age our 3y/o, 8y/o, and both me and my husband enjoyed. Our GPS had us take a road next to a gas station right before getting here which didn’t look like the best roads. I would recommend going into town and taking a right at the bank with the clock. The boat ramp was very well maintained as well and we didn’t have trouble launching our boat at all. We ate at chef troys talk of the town which is just a mom and pop restaurant. The food was great. We will definitely be back.

About 50 minutes from Stoney Lonesome OHV park. No issues with leveling the motorhome in site #13, the older section. There is a newer section with very little trees and lots of gravel on the Northwest side of the park. A private marina for those with boats and easy access to the lake.

Excellent campground. Staff was very friendly. This is a spacious campground and easy to navigate even with a big rig. Loop C is newer than A & B loops. Plenty of amenities, pool, basketball court, disc golf, nice clubhouse with pool tables and other games/lounging, Lewis Smith Lake, nice playground, horseshoes, a lake overlook with gazebo and mini golf though it was missing the artificial grass, not sure if it closed permanently or down for repairs. Cullman has the Ave Maria Grotto, a definite must see IMO, Huntsville has the US Space and rocket museum and Redstone Arsenal Army Base. I didn’t get to it but Birmingham has the Civil Rights Institute and the 16th Street Baptist Church and Tupelo is Elvis’s birthplace.
Facilities in my loop are very nice and clean. There is a boat launch and nice dock and a small waterfall behind it as well. Jasper and Cullman are the closest cities, about a 20-30 minute drive. There is a nearby gas station and Dollar General.
Verizon signal is very sketchy, and non existent depending on where you are in the campground. I was able to make calls but that was it. They do have wifi, free at the clubhouse and a couple other spots. The have campground wide wifi that you can pay for, I stayed for a week and it was $14.95. They have other lengths of time to choose from. It was pretty good for me, Internet usage was good, FaceTime calls were ok ish, cut in and out but phone calls were fine.
Sites are gravel, full hook up, and there are 5 tent camping sites. Minor leveling needed for my spot. There are quite a few permanent campers in the good spots with views of the lake, that was kind of a bummer but not detrimental. Site was very large, enough for another camper to fit. It had a nice fire pit ring that doubled as a grill you could flip over and use and had a picnic table. Some birds and squirrels, nothing exciting. Overall, very nice, clean and quiet campground, would recommend visit again.

Full hookups and nice park with spaces spread out and plenty of common areas. Highly recommend this park. Nice pool, clubhouse with pool tables, fireplace and Childress area. Playgrounds for the kids, boat ramp and dock. There is also a viewing area that overlooks the lake with deck, tables and overhang.

My only complaint is that every campsite is a big distance from the water with no real good views of it. The bathrooms are all clean and the sites are spaced about right. We stayed in section B for the 30 amp hookups. The sites are first come, first served. Section C is newer and offers zero shade at this point, but I expect that will change in the years to come.

This park does not assign RV sites. You can pick your own site from any that does not have personal possessions, a traffic cone or a deck. (Those are annual sites.) Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
