There are about 7 well maintained sites with fire pit and picnic table, each has spacious place for RVs or tent, well maintained lawn toilets are clean, no electricity or water, but very quiet and flat. Good place for camping, will definitely come again if around.

This was a great little spot! We stopped for an overnight but would stay longer.
Each site has a fire pit and picnic table.
There are interactive trails, burial mounds, a pond, an old farmstead and large gazebo/picnic area.
Very quiet and peaceful.

Hidden Gem! Lovely little camping area. Wish we could have spent a couple days here. Well maintained. Gravel road, grass mowed. Plenty of room for our 32 ft RV pulling a boat.

There road going on is gravel but had a lot of bumps so go slow and had a turn around at the end of the campsites so don’t worry about backing up if you don’t find a site. Had 2 bathrooms. One near the barn had a sink and real toilet and the ones near the campsites was a decomposing.

We stayed here on a week night, and there was only one other camper. The trail system was a very cool bonus. To see footage of this and two other free Iowa campgrounds, go to YouTube and look up GrassRoots Living Camping in Iowa.

Quiet camp ground with friendly campers when we were there. Clean bath rooms and well kept grounds. Nice fire rings and tables. Would stay there again. No hookups but nice place to camp.
We got there about 5:00 o'clock Friday after noon and probably was lucky to get a spot as there was 5 or 6 cars came by looking to camp. 8/24/18

Not many sites, but all are big enough for any rig. Stayed here for 14 days and enjoyed the solitude. Teens will come on weekends and stay in the back end, so grab the first sites as you come in to avoid that. Weren't all that loud. Not really a lot to do in the area, but great if you just want to chill.

This is a great place to be unplugged and enjoy some solitude. Grass and nice fire rings are great. It's always been quiet when I have stayed here. The bathrooms are clean and a plus too.

Very Nice Place. DNR keep the grounds up. Have New Built in Fire Rings in the ground. The Big Red Barn has Electrical outlets for Family, Friends, Etc. Picnics and Cooking. It's very nice! There Is an underground Safety area just in case of Tornado activity. The Restrooms Are Modern and Always Clean. Not a time that I have not been here when they weren't. The Restrooms Do have a sink, modern flush toilets but no shower. Not to Worry!! They have an Old Fashioned Well Pump. Plenty of Water here! Shade trees abound. Timber around you.
The DNR come around often and are Very Polite. There is someone else that Does watch over Hickory Hills so don't come a knockin' if you think this is a place for any illegal activity. They have Cleaned all that up. I Love it here!! My Place To Go and I would surely recommend. Yes, there are Mounds, I've never Explored. Native American Descent and believe in not disturbing them. But for others? Hiking trails and Indian Mounds. Small pond, never fished it. So can't tell you about what you'll get when you toss your line in.

Beautiful park, but primitive camping only. The Indian mounds and trails are a definite plus. There is work being done on the pond, but when it is filled, it is lovely. The shelter is good with a great view. It is easy to get to, right off the highway.
