“It could be an idyllic spot if not for the rowdy drunken bonfire parties.”

This is on a back bayou in central FL with fishing, airboat tours, gators, a wide variety of shorebirds and a genuine taste of wild Florida. A pretty great place for a daytime visit or picnic. On weekend nights dozens of teens come out and have a huge bonfire party into the wee hours with Jeeps racing around, loud airboat races on the water at 1AM and general alcohol-fueled mayhem. We never felt unsafe but my impression is that the local teens don't appreciate overnight RV campers on "their turf" and make this experience as uncomfortable as possible.
If you enjoy Mad Max films and might like to join the locals in wild all night revelry, this spot is for you. If you prefer to have a quiet night's sleep, find a different campground with entry fees and supervision.

The airboats were not a problem for us, we were expecting them, based on previous reviewers. The best time to enjoy airboat rides IS in the middle of the night. If you are in a tent you may wish to stay on the other side of the dirt road, they come and go quickly.
The local drunk teens driving recklessly & within only 2 feet of our jeep, and about the same from the other RV close to us were of greater concern. They were just bored & stupid, as teens are sometimes.
Saturday night around midnight 4 carloads of adults, along with a few kids under 10, decided to pitch tents, party loudly, and only sleep between 2 & 4am, then loudly exited in the same manner, without consideration for anyone else. Their hatred for Americans was voiced loudly, while suggestions of attempts to run all Americans off were voiced repeatedly in their drunken exuberance.
The small dent we made in collecting over 60 lbs of metal, trash, and glass was sad in comparison to how beautiful this land used to be.
The scars will only increase due to the lack of local aid in keeping this park safe & clean.
A U-Haul with nothing but about 8 people sleeping inside with just one mattress in the empty box was interesting...

Saturday not so much and Sunday night was actually quiet. There is a 4 mile dirt road that gets you to the park like setting. Primitive camping with one portable potty. If you like airboats this would be a 5.

Spacious, only one campsite here (far as I can tell) So make sure to book with St. John’s Water Management well before hand. Packed down dirt road to get here, barely any potholes.

“Full of idiots”
noted 3/2/2024
Lady at the associated phone number said they only permit camping on weekends. Had some jerks running air boats in and out of the camping area / boat launch till all hours. As if that wasn't bad enough, some idiot pulled up next to my van and cranked country music at midnight. Half a dozen relatively antisocial boondockers who seemed to all know each other appeared to be ok with all of it like it's a normal night. What little they talked included telling me about the tent by the water having been there for a month so obviously they don't enforce the weekends only policy.
