We love this park. Our site required just a little leveling. We were very close to showers which were really nice. Saw many deer packs passing through the campground. There is free Wifi!! With very few other campers around, we managed to stream shows successful to TV.

Because it's December we had the place to mostly to ourselves during the week. However, I gave the park a 3 for noise because our last night was rough. The site (A40) next to us is so close we heard every word of their conversations. This campground lacks the privacy we have come to expect from many state/national park campgrounds. I can't imagine being here during a holiday weekend.
The campground has a pool, playground, a ball field, and an entire row of water sites in the A loop. The other loops don't have amenities. Loop B has pull-through sites but I cannot imagine ever getting a bigger RV (more than 25') level from front to back on those sites. I don't think I have seen sites so unlevel from front to back. Loop C is a bit better but I am thankful we didn't have to drive our rig through it. There is a couple of water sites but the view is of the marina and they may be prone to flooding. Loop D has tent sites only with no electricity. Loop D has the most "private" sites of the entire campground.
We had a site right on the lake and I would love to come back when it's warmer to put our kayaks in.

We stayed in A36 which turned out to be a really tough back in. If you have a Class B or C, not such a big deal. This site is wide and fairly private, has a great view, & has a nice picnic area. As others have noted, some of the spaces are close together but there are quite a few with nice distance from your neighbors. We’re here in December and that helps as well since the park is less than half capacity. I would stay here again and I’d go for site A42 as my first choice. Roomy, great view, easy back in.

Other spaces had slopes that would require long levelers to get level. We were got lucky. We checked at the store and they had one space available on the water. It was a great spot. There were about 8 spaces on the edge of the water next to us. I would not stay at this park again

We stayed here August 31,2020
Normal price to stay is 26.00 but with an interagency pass it is 1/2 price.
This is a big and busy park, lots of grass, playground for kids and a marina.
Our site was easy to get onto and level.
Did not use the bathrooms or shower.
There is a dump station.
WiFi was ok.

We hiked around the trail across the lake and found that people take their trash in, but don't pack out. We saw mostly kids going into the high spots to jump. Unfortunately their parents have not instill the need to protect
earts natural environment. We filled two tall kitchen bags of plastic litter on our 2nd trip.
The campsite itself needs some routine maintenance. You can tell by the faded site numbers. The workers seem to do their best but the State need to put money into the park. It would be shameful to have this park go into degradation.

However the A section is pretty level, the C section has some grade but not bad. All sites have water and electric, fire ring and picnic table. Some sites are on the water, the park has a great boat ramp area and marina. Lots of squirrels and dear around.
I probably would stay in area A & C but never in B again, even the lady that checked me in said these 3 sites mentioned are the last to go and she doesn't like putting people in them....

I reserved two sites during this visit using the Tennessee State Park online reservation system. Both on the A loop: A16 and A17. We had a large tent on A16 and a 15 ft T@B trailer on A17. Each site was $25/night - water and electric. Both sites were paved and included a picnic table and fire ring. Some of the sites are waterfront on Chickamauga Lake. Some campers anchored a boat at their site.
A well lit bathhouse was less than 100 yards from our site. The approach is paved so it keeps the bathhouse clean. There are 8 individual bathrooms with showers. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked with toilet paper and hand soap. The showers were hot with very good pressure. There was a large table near the shower and multiple wall hooks.
This is a family friendly campground. Across the street from our site was a large ball field. There were kickball and softball games everyday. Next to it was a playground, basketball court, and a massive pool. The pool is open to all park visitors but only costs $2.50 for campers. On the other side of the pool were tennis and volleyball courts. They also offer kayak and canoe rentals.
The Wi-Fi access in this campground was the best I had ever experienced. Our connection was never dropped or lost due to saturation even though the campground was full each night. It was remarkable.
Ice and wood are available at the camper registration office. A Food City grocery store is 3 miles away.
If you need a break from cooking at the campsite, the restaurant at the park marina was fantastic. If I had ate there the first night, I would have ate there every night. Their smoked brisket was delicious.
The park offers boating, trails, wildlife viewing, and golf. Downtown Chattanooga and Rock City is a short drive away.
