This is subpar camping area in my book, and I boondock full time so I had been around. There are a few campsites in this area of Pando Tree and multiple roads to camp off. I'm not sure where positive reviews are coming from. There are only several campsites that have trees that are also suitable for even a small RV and which also do not require high clearance and 4wd. These campsites will be occupied by big rigs even on a weekday at the start of the week and you will have to listen to someone's generator and or stare at another rv if you get one. The rest of the sites are either high clearance with steep entrances with big rocks, or flooded/mud, or very sloping, or have very low overhanging branches, or near actual houses, or a combination of the above. Waste of time and gas driving to check them out on these rocky roads. Turning around in my small motorhome was very difficult. I finally got a campsite after fording 3 deep poodles and getting scratched, close to someones house with no privacy, thats early in the week. This area is very popular, is good for hiking not rv camping, really.

No amenities (water, bathroom, dump), etc. it was very peaceful at night at campsites are very big enough to have a family of campers. Stayed in a tent and it was very nice I would stay again. The only downside is the long gravel road, with pit holes here and there.

We grabbed a spot here on a weekend and never saw another soul. In July! Great tucked away spot just a few minutes from Fish Lake. Skip the campgrounds and stay here free!

Turn left at the Hancock Flat sign and then take the first left off of the dirt road, which is probably less than a half a mile off the main highway. The turn off is very rocky and would need a higher clearance vehicle. Went slow and my 30+ foot trailer was fine. There are 4 fire rings. One right off the turn, a second isolated one a little further down the road, and the last two are in the grove of trees. We were in the last two. Multiple areas for trailers (we had three with plenty of space), great spots for hammocks, and several spots for tents. Beautiful area and loved the cool weather. A couple deer joined us every morning and evening. Just a few miles from fish lake, which has a free dumping station and portable water. It’s forty-five minutes from Capital Reef National Park. Capital Reef was our main objective but instead of staying in a lot warmer area with no cover, we stayed here and then drive over to the park for a couple days.
