Needed a place to pull in for the night on our way home from vacation. Realized Black Mesa State Park was too far to make it home the next day so found this one a couple hours further east. Used to be a state park but now belongs to the city of Beaver. Bathroom and showers functional but needs attention. We can wait for a shower when we get home. Got a tent site, $15 with no discount. Only ones here. There are 6 tent sites in a small loop. Each one has a table with an awning, a fire ring, a grill and a prep table. Water and trash bins very handy. There are also about 6 RV sites with concrete pad, electric and water. There is a dump station ($10 fee). The dunes are over the ridge west of park. Heard dune buggies until
sundown. We would stay again for an overnight stop.

Come to find out the State Park system turned it over to Beaver Parks & Rec and haven’t taken it off their state webpages (reservations can be made on their FB page or any cash/check in an envelope as a walk up.)
Hackberry offered a very level concrete pad (pull through a & back in’s), had site 5 & were able to leave our Jeep tow on overnight Electric & water. Bathhouse left a lot to be desired so we just used our rig. Fire pits were overflowing, which didn’t affect us for an overnight but it appears it needs a host or maintenance worker to enhance the experience. Ranger was present, patrolling the grounds & friendly. Felt safe & grateful for a good nights rest before another long day of driving.

The water is barely visible due to trees/shrubs from site 1-3 and not at all from other sites. Site 1 is handicapped with a lower grill. The little la... more

The little lake gets quite busy with anglers. Must be some good fish coming out of there!
Great for a night as we are just passing through.

Clean restrooms. Approximately 6 spots, all pullthrough if you aren’t too long. We were 30 ft towing a car. Level, cement pad. Heard a coyote in the night. Sand dunes are here if you have atvs. Good stop. A little off the main road but easy enough to get to.
