It was perfect for an overnight stay. No problem, with ear plugs I didn't even hear any traffic noise. We have 27ft long 5th wheel and we prefered our saty here than at a Walmart. Would recommend it. No hooks ups, clean bathrooms and dog friendly place.

Five plus stars for a rest stop, but since it isn’t technically a camp spot I give it four, even though Texas allows up to 24 hr stays at rest stops.

Car — bathrooms were nice enough, not a lot of traffic, quiet, dark, everything I could ask for after leaving Austin.

We routinely stay at rest areas when traveling. Found this one on our way south and thought it would be perfect. It is very cute. Small.... I can see someone in a small C or B stopping here, but there was no way I was going to block the single road through with my 40' DP! Parked on a side road with a wide spot instead.

Gillespie County Rest area is by far the nicest rest area i have stayed at - Let me begin by saying there are only a few choice spots on the side road which was recommended by Bob who was the person on duty.(really great and helpful guy) The rest area is as clean as can be, quiet, and a really nice setting (i hope the few pics i took do it justice) When you pull in stay to the right, drive thru the area to stop(blue church up on left) make right and another quick right. This puts you on the side street where there are maybe 2-3 areas to pull over for the night. Not really a pullout kinda place and there may only be one spot for a class a size, there was a tag along in one spot and i had the other. Bob did say you could park in the front of the actual rest room building but not sure how much traffic would be in and out - Verizon worked but couldn't stream that well - perfect spot before LBJ park -

Great rest area off Highway 290 to stop for a night.
The bathrooms are clean and pretty new. There is security/cleaning crew until 6pm.
There is road noise, it goes down around midnight
The rest area it’s small and gets full fast. It is not big RV friendly.
We stayed here March 4th in a Class B MH

Not much boondocking available in the Hill Country of Texas so we thought we would check out this wayside rest on our way to a local state park. We were pleasantly surprised. This stop is beautiful, was built in 2016 and is very well maintained. There are multiple covered picnic areas, a small playground, lots of green space, big shady trees and immaculate bathrooms. You could possibly access water too if you have a long hose. Good cell coverage for T-mobile is also a plus. The only cons for this location is road noise and no place to dump tanks but the traffic slowed down immensely after 10 pm.
