We arrived the beginning of August and were concerned about arriving after some heavy rains in the area, but the road in was fine. Off the road was a bit spongey but handled the weight of our RAM 3500 DRW loaded with fuel and our Arctic Fox 811 with no issues. I would be concerned a bit immediately after rain or some prolonged rain. There are plenty of places that can accommodate a couple of rigs or some single site places. Everything available both close to the road as well as back out of site. There’s plenty of downed wood to provide for many nights of campfires. We saw a few trucks going in and out during the day, but it was essentially just us for 5 days. The night sky was perfect to watch the Perseid’s meteor shower. This is definitely a place that we look forward to returning to.
Only drawback is having to “straighten up” from the knuckleheads who busted beer bottles around the fire pit and then burning the remaining debris they left behind.

Not a bad spot for our first southwest camping experience. We got here kinda late, sites weren’t too far or too close to the road and we had the place to ourselves! Didn’t take long to find a level spot. Stayed here on the way the the Grand Canyon South Rim.

We were there during the week which may have contributed to the lack of other RVs, but it was very quiet and peaceful. Our 39' FW had plenty of room at the third or fourth turnoff and our kids had lots of bike riding space, too. A smaller RV or van would have many more choices for camping spots, but big rigs can find spots, too. Do be aware that the dust from the road is very fine and anything outside got covered it in, but that is par for the course and wasn't a huge deal.

The Forest Service Rd, was bumpy with a few ruts. Very dry. Slow travel recommended. We came in with a 36' 5th Wheel. Many sites available along the road. Nice and dark at night. Windy during our stay. We were 1.5 miles in, from Hwy 64. Ran the generator for most of the nights. Verizon coverage was weak... even with a Mifi device.

It was completely quiet and secluded. It was a short drive to the Grand Canyon as well. I highly recommend. We made it down the road with our trailer just fine.

The only issue I found at this parking spot and others while walking around was broken glass. As long as you stayed within the tire tracks, you were ok. But due to people not respecting the land there was trash and broken glass everywhere. The main road was well maintained and easily passable. It was a little hot during the day but when the sun went down, so did the temperature. It cooled down to a nice sleeping temperature and was quiet.

Very first Boondocking camping trip going to see Grand Canyon. FR305 sign easy to see from main road. When you drive in there will first be Forest Ranger Info Sign. Keep traveling up rode you will see what looks like an old brick chimney on the left, which if you had a larger motorhome or rig I would park just on the other side of chimney. We drove a little further down the road to first side road to the left, pulled up and turned left with a slight incline before flat ground. We parked right there by some stone fire rings. Loved the spot because It was very quiet with just a very faint road noise from main highway. We had seen only two other campers come in. One pulled past us down the road about a 1000 yards and set up camp and we couldn't even see them. The road is mostly smooth but there are some larger rocks to be aware of so unless you have a little bit of lift on your car I would not go in during the night so you could see good to maneuver around the rocky areas.

If you keep going up the road there are more spots available in the trees on the left but we decided to keep closer to the highway. We didn't see another camper on the entire road. It was very quiet and I got 30Mb download speed with T-Mobile. Much better cell service than at Tusayan or anywhere else closer to the Grand Canyon entrance. We will stay here again when visiting the Grand Canyon.

This was our first time boondocking and thanks to this app and reviews we were able to do so! We arrived around 8:30pm and only one other person was camping. We drove down passed them to find a spot. Super easy to find and great place to camp!

Thanks to previous reviews, we are delighted to have found this spot. Nobody here when we pulled in. We parked the motorhome just of the highway and drove the jeep further in on the well maintained Forest Service road. We found several spots to our liking and returned to get the motorhome. One more van pulled in and found the same area as us, but parked far enough away. Beautiful sunset. You can hear a bit of highway traffic, glad we didn't stay parked just off the highway.
