We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and there were a couple of other cars and folks at the pit toilet area of the access road and a few others down on the playa near the access point. We parked our 24 RLS at the pit toilet area where there is plenty of room to turn around if needed. We then walked the road the rest of the way to make sure we were comfortable driving onto the playa and with the access road itself since there are a few comments from others about not being comfortable taking their trailers down it and because it had just rained for two the days prior. The road in our opinion wasn’t too bad at all.
There is all kinds of room to park and camp as you can go wherever you want. There were probably 10 other rigs that we could see and miles of open space. This place is really cool. We road our e-bikes all over and you can also drive around. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.
Definitely on our list of favorites.

Other than having to drive up the washboard road, it was a great location to stay at and easy access for walking, biking, or truck access. It was a too rutted and sloped for my liking to take the 24’ trailer.

The Frog Springs access turn to the desert is about 8 miles of gravel washboard from 205 after about ten miles of pavement. The Frog Springs access turn to the desert is about 8 miles of gravel washboard from 205 after about ten miles of pavement.
From the pit toilets it’s only about 100 yards onto the desert but 50’ of it is very rutted and our 28’ three inch lifted Airstream barely cleared. We were too late to access through the Hot Springs but happily paid $10 to leave that direction.
Got really windy at 10PM and then mellowed out.

Awesome overnight spot with a large flat desert with solid driving surface. It has a vault toilet at the access point. Beautiful scenery surrounding the desert.

Glad to have seen this desert once in my life, honestly probably wouldn’t come back again though. It’s about 8 hours from Portland, and the last hour (pulling a trailer) was on a gravel road (in good shape though) but still annoying and long. There was hardly anyone out there on the desert which was really nice. It got into the 90s during the day and probably didn’t drop below 66 degrees at night. The wind REALLY hit us hard as soon as the sun went down, which rattled our trailer like crazy and got everything insanely dusty. Be prepared to be cleaning everything for a week to come!
