Stayed at the Elm point campground which we loved and wish we could have swam but it thunderstormed the whole night we were there. One thing is the bathrooms are not very close to this site and not a ton of privacy to go in the woods. They do have showers but the bathrooms in general were not very clean. Also had a lot of noise from boats and music from the houses across the cove. Running water at each site is a plus.

We stayed in this area along the Red River in search of some bald eagle sightings, without success, but we did get to see a variety of waterfowl at nearby Hagerman NWR. We stayed in the Bois D'Arc (bow'-dark) Ridge Campground, 50+ pull-through sites with full hookups. Very quiet place in mid-winter. (Since this is the only campground with FHUs, the camp hosts for all 5 camping areas stay here. Early in the week, hosts outnumbered the guests.) The sites are asphalt with pea gravel surface. Our site #93 was inclined and side-sloped toward the lake side, but both were manageable. (Others near us were more severe.) Bigger problem was that the sewer opening was on the uphill side and it was difficult to position our rig to get the drain hose even close to running downhill. Our metal picnic table and fire pit, with grill, were down a rather steep slope toward the lake. Fine for us, but might be difficult for some folks to navigate. No firewood available in the park, but park office can direct you to a nearby private seller. The park has a 4 mi. walking trail that can easily be broken into smaller segments, or done all at once. It's not a loop so it's an 8 mi. round trip. I walked most of it after 2 days of rain, so parts were a little soupy. Good thing was that rainwater was still draining off the uplands and so there were a number of burbling streams to provide a soundtrack.

Beautiful campground. All the hook ups. Easy to maneuver sites with fire pit, picnic table and a hanging pole for bug zapper or pet lead. Our first night and shakedown run for our new camper. We were in site 63 during a heat wave and it was the only one in that row with out shade in the middle of day during a 100 degree day. And it was on a steep slope. My TT hitch was 4 in off ground to be level. Shade in late afternoon and morning. Would do it again, but would not do site 63 in the middle of summer. Bathroom and Shower rooms were clean and acceptable and dump station was easy to access but the site had everything!

This is a local park for us, so we camp here frequently when our work schedule doesn’t allow us to go farther away. Please note that the only campground loop with full hookups (Bois d’Arc) is closed for renovation for the 2021 season. That said, we have camped often in the Armadillo Hill loop, which has water and 50/30 Amp electric. We have found it to be quiet and peaceful. The park offers a nice lighted fishing pier, as well as another unlit fishing pier. Fishing from banks and piers is free without a license in Texas State Parks, so take advantage! A swimming beach, pontoon boat rentals, and extensive hiking trails are also available, as are designated OHV trails. We always see and hear lots of wildlife. The only thing missing (other than sewer hookups this year) would be waterfront campsites, which you won’t find here due to the rocky cliffs along the shore. Of the parks we’ve visited, this is one of the best patrolled, with friendly rangers driving through the campgrounds often.

I love this park. It is beautiful. I stayed in site #2 and I did not hear any traffic after dark. Very peaceful the entire time I was there. Very nice bathroom/shower. The dam is also amazing.

The Texoma area is a huge "lake life" area spanning eight counties on both sides of the Texas/Oklahoma border. Eisenhower State Park is a beautiful Texas park on the south side of Lake Texoma and provides excellent access to the lake and the surrounding Denison/Sherman area. The park itself is secluded and quiet. Power and water are good. Fairly level sites. While there is a full-hookup campground within the park it was closed for construction while we were there. We stayed on site 22 for the first three days and then decided to extend for another 3 days. However, there were no sites available because it was the weekend. After looking everywhere for a site for us, the ranger said we could stay on the emergency overflow site 39. It was a large site that we really enjoyed. Verizon 4G/LTE was excellent.

And welcome to summer time in North Texas..... chiggers everywhere. I showed up on a Saturday and the place was packed but it emptied out on Sunday and for the next five days the park was sparsely populated. The grounds are well kept. Internet connectivity was very slow. The shower was great.

This was our first time to stay here. We were here in Aug & a pair of road runners were building a nest in the trees over our site! I was surprised by that an asked a ranger. He said that is how & where they nest. We enjoyed our mornings drinking coffee & watching the pair work.
We stayed in a water & electric site (required for HOT TX summer) but the park also has primitive, water only, and full hookup sites.
The entire park is on a bluff... while you are surrounded by a gorgeous lake, there are only 2 places you do not have to climb to reach the water (boat launch & 1 of the fishing piers has a ramp down to it.)
We did enjoy our visit to Eisenhower's birthplace. It is worth a stop. It is free, donations accepted.
