Dutch Flat RV Resort

We picked up our rental RV in Travis on Sept 13 at about 4p and made it to the RV park at about 7-ish. Lois was the on site manager and she was very nice and welcoming. We enjoyed our first night ever in a camper and even though the park was full (lots of full timers), it was quiet. We left early the next day - rather an uneventful stay but that’s what we wanted for our first outing! Anyhow, it’s a decent spot for a quick stay over.

This place is a rural mountain living gem!

My Class A auto leveling took a few attempts to even things out, but it worked out. You may want to drop your jacks on some wood rounds, or other base. If your rig “desires” to be perfectly level for your fresh tanks to not drip and whatever other issues, be prepared to make sure that you set up in daylight and scope out first. Have tools, spare fuses, etc. with you for incidentals, since hardware stores, etc. are “down the hill” from the park.

Mountains! Solitude and trails! Club house usage, pool, clean facilities, convenient store with propane and high fuel clearance on property. Much more picturesque than parking lots, obviously.

Fellow guests never have been a bother. Everyone that I’ve met is friendly, but some guests prefer more isolation (you’re in the mountains, after all) from social interactions, so be respectful of that personal space. Some of the other guests have tacky post-election political flags and signs, which I think cheapens the feel and look of things, “but whatever.” Nobody at this park has ever been a problem for me.

Ownership and management (@ site#1) both are on-site and very professional and responsive to inquiries, etc.

Paid for month at a time, for full hook ups (just a 30amp park) and worth every penny.

Some other misc. notes:
1) Contact property well ahead of time before you arrive, in order to make sure that there are any vacancies. Don’t just expect walk-in availability here.
2) Will receive packages for you.
3) Not all sites have sewer.
4) Scope out the site options in-person before driving inside with a very large rig and check out for your preferences about sun, trees, extra space, etc. Large rigs can fit into most spots, but that really depends upon your skills with mirrors, etc. The park map online isn’t to scale. This RV park has many happy guests, so you will not have your pick of the whole place.
5) WiFi is stable and enough bandwidth to support multiple TVs and IoT devices, but that might partly depend upon your site location and their network deployment arrangements.
6) Be prepared for some snow and ice occasionally, since it’s a little above 3000 feet elevation.
7) Don’t drive down the road passed the gas station and park. There is a CHP station there and the road has signage for “no outlet.” If you go down there, you’ll need to turn around, or back out of there and that will take serious effort in bigger RVs; plus, a CHP officer will probably notice you, so be prepared for CHP to approach you and ask what you’re doing, check your ID, etc. — so, just don’t go down that road, as you will likely find yourself in a potentially serious bind and Pandora’s Box.
8) The entrance to park is not immediately obvious. It’s in the back just passed the gas station mini-mart. Check in at Site#1 and try to arrive before dark, for ease of set up, since the park is not lit up like a Christmas tree.
9) A hot tub, or two would be a nice addition to see.
10) Prepare to do most shopping west in Auburn. Colfax is west as well, but closer and has some shopping, but it’s very limited there. The mini-mart on the park property is “OK,” for basic needs.
11) You can refill your RV propane at the gas station. If you don’t like moving your rig very much, another guest told me that some propane companies will come to your RV site, but I cannot confirm that.
12) Excellent Verizon data signal, especially at the top of the park; but, poor Sprint/T-Mobile/Boost data signal.
13) Friendly Advice: Don’t call the cops in this County, unless you REALLY need them. Gratefully, I’ve never had any issues ever at this park that would warrant calling any form of law enforcement. It’s a no-drama RV park, which I really appreciate.
14) My site # would have had a more pleasant view out of the windshield, if I could have pulled in, instead of backed in; but, I obviously had to park up against the hook up side. As far as I know, this park doesn’t offer sites with hook ups on both sides, for own parking view preferences.

I cannot really think of a reason to take off any stars, because “for what it is,” it’s a very pleasant and well-run RV park.

This is a nice campground right off the hwy. but road noise was not an issue as the campsite is tucked in the woods. They only offered water & power as the sewer was out of order. Our site was in an awkward position to back in, but a very nice neighbor helped us. We were able to dump on our way out, but the dump area was pretty messy & the hose had a big cut in it, so it was pretty much useless. The sites were kept clean. Nice pool area and great hiking trails all around in the woods. Dogs could go off lead on the trails. Very nice camp host and the full timers keep their sites clean. Restaurants & stores in nearby town of Colfax, a few exits down the road.

Most of the folks here are full time residents and they have a small area tucked away for vacationers. The space was tight because of the trees and I was ever so glad to happen upon nice neighbors who helped me back in. I could not open my awning due to the trees - YET - the trees are what makes the place so nice. Having just stayed in Fresno for a week it was just a treat to be able to sleep without all the traffic noise.
