Stayed in new fhu sites in lower numbers section. Our site had a drop-off to a drainage area / stream path on the patio side of the pad which made that area unusable beyond the concrete. Behind the pad was a very spacious area where the fire ring was located. Not really private but had lots of shade and unfortunately, was loaded with poison ivy around the perimeter and around the trees. I’m highly allergic so couldn’t bring our dogs back there to hang out with us bc they would have been unable to avoid it on their tie outs near trees. Sparse to no grass so when it rains it’s muddy back there. Very high curb on the rear of the parking pad watch your stabilizers and rear tank outlets when backing in. Nice park to ride bikes, soccer nets and pickle ball in the open recreation area, disc golf and mini golf on site at the campground as well. Really nice playground too! We actually liked many of the sites in the electric only area better- definitely recommend utilizing all the info on the reserve Ohio website for dimensions as well as pics as there is a lot of variation within the campground. Downside is about a 10-15 min drive to the beach (no campers beach). Beach was clean and busy but enjoyable! Overall a nice place just wish we had been able to enjoy our site a little more. We’ll choose a different site next time we visit!

We took a chance to stay here for a week including Labor Day weekend. The park was in the process of installing FHU sites when we made our reservation and thankfully, they were complete by the time we arrived. State Parks are sometimes tricky for big rigs like us, both in the getting in and out of sites as well as the roads around the campsite. Deer Creek is different - the roads have plenty of space and while most of the FHU sites are back-in, there was plenty of space to maneuver, even for a 42' long fifth wheel. While the site was long enough (the rear of the fifth wheel extends beyond the substantial concrete curb) for the rig, our truck would not fit. However, there was plenty of parking at the nearby restroom. Hook-ups were great, except the septic connection was deeper into the ground so our fitting would not reach for a firm connection. It was not really a problem to drain though. We were thankful for a fairly shaded site, as some of the FHU sites are full sun. Huge site with lots of room to spread out. T-Mobile coverage at the site was good, but spotty as we walked around the area. Driving from the campground offers a large lodge and a lake with beach for free swimming.

Sites are paved and mostly flat. Many sites dropoff quickly beyond the paved surface.
Fill up at the first spigot you find. Some are easier to spot and closer to the road.
1 mile loop trailhead near the camp store. Many deer and raccoon tracks on the trail.

There’s a lot to do here. You can expect it to be busy because there are so many sites. The campground offers something for everyone, however there’s not a lot that’s close outside of the campground if you like to go out and eat or explore the local city.
My biggest disappointment was the updates needed on some of the important stuff. If you need to fill your potable water the only option was to stop in front of a water spigot and block some campers and sites while filling. This is my first trip that didn’t have a water station to fill. Dump station was also a mess. There no option to hook your hose into, there’s just a big hole you have to hold the dump hose in place. Campground bathrooms were also very old and disappointing. Not clean at times I went in them and didn’t have a safe feel while using the facilities.

They just come here to party. I had to ask kids to stop jumping on the stairs of my trailer because the parents don’t care. I can’t use my fire pit because the sites are so close, I’d burn my neighbor’s tent if I lit a fire.
This campground is the closest thing to hell for a quiet nomad. Maybe you don’t care. Maybe this review saves you from making my mistake.

This busy state park campground, southwest of Columbus,.Ohio, is a nice place for a weekend getaway in the Columbus area. With 132 electric only sites, water hydrants throughout the park, shower houses, a dump station, and laundry facilities, it is an easy place to spend an extended stay.
The campground is very busy and reaervations are required at all Ohio state parks during Covid.
Cell service is spotty (Verizon) at the park but I was able to get fair service at my site (136.) If you need good cell service, check out A. W. Marion state park, a little to the east.
There are many kids at the campground and they all seem to have lights on their bikes which makes the evenings feel a little like the Disney Electric Light Parade. Younger kids were riding low to the ground electric go-xart type contraptions so be vigilant when. You drive through the campground.
Site 136 is a nice L shaped campground which provides privacy and shared for sitting outside.
The picnic tables are rough, but each site has a pole for lanterns and a fire ring.
There are many activities at the park, including biking, hiking, paddling, and disc golf.

It allows us to pick our site ahead of time by looking at the camp map and seeing our choices. They even have photos of every site which is helpful to decide. We picked a site with a little deck near to a bathroom with no one else around on any of the nearby sites. (that’s what we prefer) The only issue is that they charge an extra $6.50 to make the reservation online.
Also we hiked over to the lodge, which was beautiful and had a nice dinner there overlooking the lake.

Couple years ago we've noticed boaters running in to the NO WAKE ZONE" at full speed, leaving behind big waves impossible for fishing. It is very annoying, not mentioning, illegal. We also have a 4 man draft, and when we venture to take to the middle of the lake it is a upsetting moment because the speed boats and jet skis drive really close to us disrespecting the 150 feet distance. They need enforce State water sports law and regulations . We've never seen one officer around. CAMPGROUND SITES AND HOSTS A+++
