Otherwise everything is very far from you site : shower and beach. Sites that are not near the lake are in the wood at distance from each other , pretty quiet except on generator hours. Not a lot of mosquitos right now bit I assume there would be a lot in June.

Some sites are right on the lake, but the terrain and the number of trees can make parking tricky. Do not arrive after sunset. The park rules state that if you arrive after 9 pm, you forfeit your site, plus it is very dark and difficult to park. It is a beautiful rustic park, but there are trade-offs. I did get 4G Verizon service surprisingly with 3 bars. Site 89 is listed as a 30-foot trailer site, but it was so steep we asked for another site. Too bad, though, it is right on the water. Beautiful sunsets on the lake from the loop campground area.

It was early in October and I had planned to camp at a free site but they were all taken, so I stopped at Cranberry Lake State Park and they had sites available. The park is easy to find and down a side road. At sign in the lady was pleasant and gave me my bear warning papers. Bears visit the parks as much as people do and living in the ADK I'm very well versed about it. The interior roads are good shape, backing into my sight was easy. There are no hook up's and cell service is limited. I didn't have signal at my site but just down the road I did. It's a large park with a boat launch, beach area, free showers and decent bathrooms. Paddling is nice, the lake has several islands where on a hot day, stopping for a quick skinny dip is nice! Cranberry Lake is a small town and has limited groceries so stock up. There is gas stations nearby and a pretty good restaurant on the back side of Cranberry Lake in the hamlet of Wanakena called the Pinecone Restaurant. There are several hiking trails and waterfalls in the area. I would stay here again.

Tupper Lake is 25 miles from the campground, there are several good resturants in town, Long Lake is 12 miles from Tupper, it's a charming town. When in route to Long Lake stop Lake Eaton. It's a beautiful Campground too.
