The “dummy dots” used to wake people up on the shoulder of the road were also being hot all night.
My conclusion there is substantial noise. If you are sensitive to that, be aware.
The campground and scenery was lovely and $10 a night.
We would stay again but
Likely only one night

We arrived here the day after Thanksgiving to a nearly empty campground. Perfect weather in the 70s during the day. Paid just $10. The oversized sites include a picnic table and there are trash bins nearby. There are fresh water spigots in a few places opposite the campsites, but they do not have threads to allow attaching a water hose . Plenty of space for even the largest RV. Sites are fairly level. Road noise is minimal and the occasional train did not bother us at all. Just a 40 minute drive via beautiful Box Canyon Road to Joshua Tree South BLM campground.

This is a nice campground with great views across the lake and of the mountains. Plenty of spaces when I arrived midafternoon. Quiet except for the trains which weren’t all that bad. Bathroom were clean. There are trash and recycling bins. Paid $8.00 with the senior discount.

Great spot with sunset views over the Salton Sea. Bombay Beach just to the south. (Grab a burger at the Ski Inn.) Showers are included in your camp fee (just $10) and have never had a problem getting a site. Dry camp only.

Liked it here..... ended up staying a second night. Arrived on a Tuesday in April. Was only one in whole place. Paid $10 a night at the pay box.
Pros:
AT&T service was fast even without booster.
Beautiful sunsets
Right along the water
Plenty of avail spaces that are spread out with tables and fire pits
Free (cold) showers, clean pit toilets and a water spigot (didn’t use the water spigot)
Easy access off Hwy 111
CONS:
As others have said, the train tracks are right across the road. No horns, but close enough you can feel it. None of the trains seem to be short and there are a lot of them!
No shade ... anywhere
Word is that Salton Sea brings out the flies and it didn’t disappoint. Bring a fly swatter

Probably need a 20 + footer if you trust the water there. Real cool spot to see the Salton Sea.

Corvina Beach campground is wide open, no shade. But that didn’t matter!
Easy access off and on the highway. Hard packed Dirt/gravel on the whole site. Put toilets and showers too.
Great for very long walks on the shore, and many great photo-ops.
