Corvina Beach campground is wide open, no shade. But that didn’t matter!
Easy access off and on the highway. Hard packed Dirt/gravel on the whole site. Put toilets and showers too.
Great for very long walks on the shore, and many great photo-ops.

Self pay station, toilets, garbage & I believe solar showers. What we liked: view to the West, most incredible sunrise (not that the campground "caused" that), sunsets and the interesting beach - it is all barnacles! Yes, you get train noise, but that doesn't bother us. Yes, it's just pull off to the side and there you are, but we had a great time!

Easy peasy and pretty empty - maybe 3-4 more groups. Bathrooms were clean, site at the turn around ring was sufficient. Beautiful sunset. Only complaint is the train noise all night was disruptive.

I have not had any issues with the stink, but be prepared for the flys. There is a LOT of train traffic just a few hundred feet away. I have no problem sleeping through that but some may not. There are two cold showers and there are bathrooms. Plenty of trash cans around. I have met others who regularly stay here that swear that there is something special here. I feel it too.

Corvina Beach Campsite on the eastern shore of the Salton Sea is certainly convenient if you're headed north or south along Hwy 111. It's a barren spot without shade, but there are some picnic tables and restrooms. It was windy the night we were there (March 8, 2019), so it wasn't all that pleasant sitting at the picnic table. The main problem for us, given that we are essentially tent campers with a pop up on top of our Honda Element, is that the highway traffic with big rigs gearing down right near the campground for some reason but especially the freight trains that were also compelled to blow their horns just as they rumbled by every 20 to 30 minutes (or so it seemed to us). We did mention the noise to one overnight camper who wasn't too bothered by it all -- but he was inside his 5th wheel trailer.
The $4 cost with the senior discount was almost worth the sleepless night. ;-)
So would I camp here again? Yes, if there weren't any other options and I couldn't drive any a lot further north or south before having to stop for the night.

Stayed one night at site overlooking the Salton Sean. Quite lovely. However, if you walk down to the water's edge, you'll see fish carcasses due to the increasing salinity of the water (and other issues.) There was a nice breeze and there was no smell that others have experienced. There is a rail line nearby but the noise didn't bother us during the night. No specific camping sites but there were picnic tables and most sites seem pretty level.
There are 2 showers and some toilets. They appeared to be fairly decent. Most campers at the campground were in self-contained units so the facilities seemed to be lightly used.
Decent cell coverage with our Verizon.
Addendum: While checking out the Visitor Center, I learned why there were fish bones and tiny barnacles everywhere. The fish remnants that you see are tilapia, a non-native species. When the fish die, there are no "bottom feeders" in the lake/sea to dispose of the fish. Therefore, the fish wash up on shore and are eaten by insects. Birds come and feast on the insects. The barnacles were introduced to the area during WW2 by planes using the water for practice. The barnacles have no predators. It helps to know why the fish are there, so it is still a bit off-putting.

Walk on the beach and all you will hear is the crunch of your shoes on dead fish parts (don’t wear flip flops) and you will smell the stench of rotten fish. This sea is so polluted from irrigation run-off that living things don’t stand a chance, which made me hesitant to let the kids play around. There is a lot of noise from the highway and the railroad. So if you want a quick pull-off area this is a great spot. Just bring nose and ear plugs.

Great place for a quiet night under the stars. There are several spots with a picnic table and fire pit. Water is available but the spigot thread was non existent so I was not able to hook up hose. Used a gallon jug instead and has enough water to wash dishes and flush toilet. Bathrooms available and was very clean. Showers in a separate building and that too was clean. No hot water but it was a hot April weekend so it was not needed. The spots are fairly level. There is a turnaround spot for bigger rigs at the end of the campground. If you want more privacy, just park towards the end of the campground. People usually come in and take photos near the entrance. Great spot for dry camping and will definitely stay here again during the cooler months.

There are three campgrounds in the Salton Sea state recreation area: the main campground at the visitor center, Mecca Beach, and Corvina Beach.
Corvina is the farthest south and marked as a "kayak campground." This is a bit misleading. The campground is a long and wide gravel lot that allows for camping along the water's edge. There are picnic tables and fire rings to designate where the sites are. Drinking water, bathrooms, trash cans and cold showers are available. No hookups.
Big rigs will have no problems pulling into a spot. There is some noise from the road and the frequent trains.
Corvina is a steal at $10, especially considering they'll allow you to visit the main campground for free to dump.
Views are great from this spot, and the sites are far enough apart to feel a bit of privacy (though everything is out in the open, no trees, no vegetation).
I wouldn't hesitate to return to Corvina. Check out Bombay Beach while you're in the area. It's an old resort town that's half abandoned, half lived in. Slab City outside of Niland is also worth seeing, but do a little research so you know what you're getting into.
